White Sox @ Reds, 7/3/18, 6:10 pm CDT

I didn't bother looking at Sale because he's a cheat code anyway, but found it interesting that the last 2 pitchers we called up aggressively to develop, Quintana and Danks, both got progressively worse during their rookie season (5.01 ERA for Quintana in his 2nd half, 7.11 for Danks) and then they both snapped forwards the next year. -
I'm totally ok with the latter, but I'm not sure that the party gets to set the rules on the latter in most states? Closed Primaries are a very different issue. I'm basically ok with states going either way on that one, you can make an argument that a party's declared voters are the ones who should get to pick their candidates and I'd buy that, but I'd also buy the argument that crossover voters should also have some influence in primaries. So, that's not a big voting rights issue to me. Caucuses suck.
-
So once again your reply to minorities is that their issue is less important and they need to wait until we deal with the more important issue. And damn, that's a crappy enough reply that I completely get why Bernie sanders lost the minority vote.
-
But...now you've hit on the other major lever...the constant campaign to make it more difficult for minorities to vote, or to make sure their votes count for less through gerrymandering. Making sure that people who can legally vote were unable to legally vote was likely enough to swing Wisconsin in the last election at least. Which, again, is not an economic issue.
-
Because if college is free but we leave racial barriers in who qualifies for the best colleges, the free college still perpetuates the current inequalities.
-
But when you have other issues that specifically face minorities, policing/imprisonment, denial of voting rights with an entire party supporting that, unequal access to the economy/education/health care, if all you do is focus on combatting poverty without specifically addressing why that group has been excluded, you continue to exclude them.
-
If you cannot even conceptualize the issue of people being marginalized because they look different outside of a paycheck, people who have to deal with that issue constantly will not vote for you.
-
There's a lot to pay attention to here, this article is from this year.
-
You just called them witches.

This isn't hard, it's the reason Greg doesn't care about. Black People and Hispanic People. Bernie Sanders did not care about their issues and to this day we constantly get statements, even in this thread, about how their desire not to be shot in the streets is less important than Bernie's important economic message. Hillary Clinton worked hard to earn that portion of the electorate. She met with black and hispanic leaders for years, incorporated their ideas into her policy proposals, could speak intelligently on issues relevant to them, and that contrasted with Bernie who responded to questions about their issues with stereotypes and never bothered meeting even local officials in those areas.

Thankfully this isn't misogynist at all.
-
So if the White Sox don't renew, then they give up their 40% of the network? Does someone have to buy them out? That seems like strong motivation to stay.
-
So the White Sox/Reinsdorf group used to own a portion of that network, has that changed?

Saw the GOP Rep involved in university sex scandal coverup article this morning, saw the possible number of victims just now.

When Cousins has only been in the league a few years and is making lists of "worst teammates in the sport", has legendary tantrums at coaches, there's probably at least something to it. That can certainly change with a player (See Zach Randolph), but until then, there's probably a reason why Cousins has had as many coaches as years in the league. -

If you're convinced that the Bulls have zero shot at actually signing or trading for a top line player in a real competition, that is one way to get them - gamble on an injured guy making a comeback, where there is no competition for him because of the injury. (That said, I think Steve's concept is a terrible one). -
We'll see about that. They're going to go all-in on the racist fear of everyone on a scale they haven't been able to do in these special elections.

Carson Fulmer got this writeup in the Sun-Times today.

He improved somewhat in the rural part of that county. Where he massively blew up was in Allegheny County, in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, where the population is both diverse and better educated.

And that reputation will be gone after this year when they all sing kum-ba-yah and sweep the finals again. -
The Democrats will also continue to lose elections if their only path to victory is to chase after rural white voters.

"Competition is tough so let's stop competing". -
The downside of less team control of players is the NBA, where there's no reason to watch if you care about competition because the next season is already rigged by players who just said they'll go get a couple rings.
