White Sox vs. Yankees, 4/23, 7:11, ESPN
QUOTE (Cowch @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) What would have happens if Joe hits the ump on that? What's the call? Do you remember the Cabrera play from earlier in the season?

Man, I can really see Mussina just shutting us down like any of the other soft-tossing crap pitchers have done this season.

Some of Dotel/Macdougal/Thornton/Logan are going to get into this game.

I'm so happy we lost that game yesterday so we could beat the Yankees today with our ace pitcher against their 5th starter.

WTF is Vazquez doing? Jesus.

Ball 4 was strike 2. We're f***ed if he gets that strike called for him all game.

QUOTE (frankie5angels @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) Linebrink is your setup guy. he can get lefties and righties out. We are losing the game.

I think you guys are not giving enough blame to our crappy hitting. Game probably should have been 5-2 in our favor by that point. That inning probably doesn't happen if you're up by 3 runs.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) Loss to Cy Smith, blown 5-2 lead to Baltimore, loss to Cy Sonanstine, and now 3 runs scored after stranding runners up the ass. These games count.

Pitching has been bad here but this game would have been different with some better hitting. f***ing terrible. Another loss in a game we should have won. Pathetic team right now.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) Could be the turning point of this game. Great game by Contreras though! If anything, the turning point is the Sox not scoring runs with runners on base (see Dye AB 2 innings ago)

Damn. We've hit some balls pretty hard today. I think it's the best we've hit against Wang (though I could be wrong). I just remember last season where he shut us down.

I like his motion with that change-up.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) Danks command today has me very excited. The only bad pitch he's made was the Hinske hanger. I think his stuff has been good too. He's been 91-92 a lot from what I've seen (though I haven't watched the entire game).

I like Quentin hitting in front of Crede and not behind him. AJP and Crede are free swingers so I think it's good to split them up with someone who's patient.

Dye needs to bring this run home after failing last time.

Thome's been pretty sick today. Looks like he's back to form.

fwiw, greg smith gave up 4 runs, 3 earned in 5 IP to KC today.

This game is over. It was evident from the 4th. These guys have nothing.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Where does this rank among the worst 7-8-9 in Sox history? Dick Allen, this question is right down your alley. Even with a crappy 7-8-9, we should have more than a couple of hits and 0 runs through 5 innings with our 1-6 guys.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) Lot a game left. I don't know about you, but I can pretty much see how this game is going to go. Hope I'm wrong but this looks like your typical "powerful Sox lineup overmatched by crappy pitcher" game.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) The first two games were blown, and games we surely should have won. This is just an ass kicking so far by Tampa. I don't know about that. You could make a case that the first 3 runs should not have scored. Either way, the Sox lineup should look a little better than anemic againt Sonnanstine.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) PK isn't picking up his pitches at all. This seems like one of those games. Disappointing, as Edwin Jackson has been damn good this season. Yankees series is going to be tough, as we face Wang in first game. This is looking like the 3rd blown game this week. Pretty bad.

The Jenks fan club name should be changed to "You Can Focking See That And Put In Play Only It's Going to Get Caught!!!!"
