  1. He hit off a tee for first time yesterday. Curious to know how it feels today.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) The fact that the players are continuing to struggle with basic fundamentals, seemingly nothing happens in response...and the team itself continues making mistakes that should have been fixed in February...is at the very least disconcerting regarding his current leadership techniques. I'm curious what this would look/sound like...would it be an Ozzie Guillen throw-his-players-under-the-bus moment, or some other public display? Because it's hard to gauge what it would be otherwise if it's not something made public. The Sox continue to be one of the few (if not only) teams that performs infield practice every week, even on the road.
  3. I don't think you have to be so drastic to make an impact (yes, I said that). I would start by releasing Adam Dunn today, not because I think he's a dick like Navarro or other Sox players I've despised in the past. Hell, I like the guy. It's because there is time to cut your losses and give some other players a shot at DH and 1B. Power numbers aside, Adam's OBP has dropped off so much in the last 3 years...even last year with 41 HR's he had the lowest OBP of his career (if you throw out the abysmal 2011 season). I'm not smart enough to diagnose what happened. Maybe it's the change in leagues, maybe he got paid and stopped trying as hard, maybe he just got old fast -- I don't care. Someone will pick him up and assume the rest of his contract. And I'd wish him all the best. Maybe he can go down to Texas and get it going again, I'd love to see that. But right now I'd rather see Andy Wilkins, Viciedo and Konerko sharing time at 1B. Even Seth Loman. I'm a fan and I'm just so tired of watching this sluggish middle of the lineup. I now look forward to watching Gillaspie and Viciedo bat more than Dunn or Konerko. And I agree that it's WAY too early to make any drastic moves with regards to younger talent like Viciedo and Flowers, although I would love to see Phegley. Kind of bummed that Kevan Smith hasn't developed more.
  4. Dunn hitting .180 for his career with White Sox
  5. but Axelrod is the kind of guy who will nut-up and not give up another run tonight.
  6. they should be destroying this guy the 2nd time through...
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2013 -> 05:19 PM) Idiot That guy is always posting s*** like that -- just ignore him.
  8. What is up with the weather. I see it's supposed to be 87 next week...when the Sox are on the road again.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 9, 2013 -> 08:46 AM) You really can't build up strength unless it's on a regular increasing schedule. He's better off in the minors for that reason. Sure he can -- he'll still be working out, throwing sides, and then of course, limited innings.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ May 9, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) My column today for Yahoo! Sports is on Danks: What to Expect when John Danks Returns I think he's going to be okay. He definitely won't be the same and I think his numbers will reflect it, too. I don't think he'll get hit back onto the DL, though. I advocate going to a six man when he returns, to get him extra rest and give Axe/Hector more time to prove themselves. If Danks does blow up big time, you won't be screwing with whichever guy goes to the pen if he has to come back to start. How do you convince a guy like Peavy to go to a 6 man rotation? Plus he's a veteran so accustomed to 5. I say put Danks in the pen.
  11. Someone's going to feel pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty stupid when the Sox win the World Series this year. Hmm?
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ May 8, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) 2008 And he's having abysmal at bats, which is not like him.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 05:33 PM) Well...HOPEFULLY that wasted run won't come back to bite them in the butt later, but you have a feeling this season that something almost always will. It will be interesting to see if the Mets take advantage now and score some runs here to tighten it up. you know it will
  14. we have some black f***ing holes in this lineup. The suck all other matter inside and crush it. Yes, I'm talking to you, Tyler Flowers.
  15. I'm on a computer with MLB.TV, otherwise I'd be right there with the Bulls fans
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) (PS - another guy who fits this criteria is...Jordan Danks) It's very lonely around here being a Jordan Danks fan. But I would love to see him play more. If you send him down, pack a 1B glove and teach him play the position.
