  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2009 -> 09:26 AM)
    I think that none of them DHs in the first few years of their careers. I am guessing we see Flowers catch. Allen at 1B, and Viciedo in LF.

    right so IF we can keep Thome CHEAP, why not, he wont be holding anyone back

  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2009 -> 09:27 PM)
    Considering three of our best prospects (Allen, Flowers, Viciedo) might eventually best be served to DH i think it could be a problem.

    Those guys won't be DH's that early in their careers

  3. In documents presented to the prosecutors office in the Peravia judicial district -- located 40 miles southeast of the Dominican capital -- Ramirez and his agent Jaime Torres are accused of owing Julio Martinez and Ramon Fernandez $450,000 from a signing bonus.

    The plaintiffs are also asking for an additional $131,156, which represents 5 percent of Ramirez's income from two years in the majors, the documents say.

    The $20 million claim is for damages and violating the contract.

    Give me a Break!!! it looks like 580,000 at most IF THIS IS EVEN LEGIT, where in God's name do they think they can score 20 million...GREEDY BASTARDS

  4. And MacDougal is coming up!!

    Montz was optioned back to Harrisburg after Wednesday’s game, clearing room for Washington to purchase the contract of pitcher Mike MacDougal(notes) from Syracuse on Friday before the Nationals play at Philadelphia.

    The Nationals had until Friday to promote MacDougal, a former All-Star closer, or possibly lose him to free agency.

    I think something more is going on here.

    I think if Carlos goes to the DL... everyone assumes Wise will be getting called up.

    But what if it was actually Keith Ginter.

    Ginter can play 3rd, 2nd, and OF... and is actually hitting well at AAA.

    If it does happen... Ginter is up for a couple of weeks, and unless he doesn't light it up.

    When Carlos comes back... Ginter and Fields go down with Slayer coming up.

    longshot

  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:05 PM)
    Much like with Ervin Santana Brian Anderson is the only hitter on this team with any real success against Weaver (sans Betemit).

    56 AB against Weaver for the current members of this ballclub and we have 2 XBH total, 4 BB and 16 K.

    Anderson is 1/3 w/ 2B and Betemit is 1/5 w/ HR and 2 BB. Of course Thome has the other 2 BB because he's Jim Thome.

    AJ, Kong, Jim, Pods and Dye are a combined 5 for 42 against him with 11 strikeouts.

    Woo Hoo we're due!!!

    Padres site too. The official team sites have to hold more weight than a SD paper, right?

    The Padres and White Sox site use the same story as MLB...on all 3 sites but its one story written by Scott Merkin and Corey Brock...Peavy wants to stay in the NL cuz his numbers will rise in the hitter heavy AL

  8. Within the clubhouse, though, Peavy referred to the situation as “something to think about” yet also restated his desire to stay in the National League. One of Peavy's teammates said he believes Peavy respects the Sox's aggressiveness in pushing for him but may have reservations about pitching for Ozzie Guillen, the White Sox's volatile manager.
