This sox team has improved starting pitching, with the addition of colon and loaiza. On PAPER, their bullpen is improved, although they probably need a real manager to utilize that. Their defense is slightly improve i think. On the other hand, their lineup isnt anywhere NEAR as it was in years past and they totally lack speed. The sox would be world series contenders, if they had more speed and maybe one more stud in the rotatation. Just my views.

ummm olivo doesnt count until he is a regular. I think you are in denial. Go look up the American league stats for stolen bases, and im confident you will find the sox at or near the bottom. Its not going to change, they have NO speed.

Someone who loves stats, please look into this. Take all 9 of the sox starting players and tell me who has the career high for steals for one season. My guess is you will find the low 20s, at best.

Im sorry but rowand and jimenez are not base stealers. Nor is anyone on the sox. Our leading base stealer may have less than 20 steals. That is sick and just provides more evidence of the lack of talent on this team.

In all fairness, I feel the two main reasons the sox are mentally weak are Manuel and Frank.

Well let me first state that i dont mind that they got rid of these two players, because they werent great team players, but if youre going to get rid of your two best base stealers, you need to replace them. Lofton and durham.

I dont want to start a fight with you, but that post lacked insight. The sox have one of the slowest lineups in the game.

Our problem is, our manager is the biggest piece of s*** in baseball and out talent is slightly above average at best. I just dont understand why some of these people think thats going to spell 100 victories.

He puts up average offensive numbers. He doesnt steal bases and hes a butcher in the field.

Im as optimist of a person as you will ever come across. However, i do not need or want to be overly optimistic about s*** i cant control. I am totally objective when it comes to baseball talent, even if they play for the sox. I learned this through years of fantasy baseball. On offense, the sox have Maggs and NOONE when it comes to an offensive player who is actually better than average at his position. If you cant face that, you think with your heart and not your head. On the pitching side, the sox have colon and buehrle and NOONE who is above average at their position. That leaves us with 3 players to rely on and if you think thats going to turn into more than 85 wins, you are being a homer.

They both suck. Unlike most of you, I actually watch baseball outside of chicago. If you people think Jimenez is going to be an all star 2nd baseman, maybe you should get off the crack. he is a utility player/borderline starting second baseman, at best.

I think last night has two examples of how mentally weak the sox team is. First of all, this pitcher they cant beat. Mays f***ING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it wasnt for the sox, he would barely be a major league pitcher. Second of all, the yanks just totally dominated the twins. The twins come in to chicago and make us look sick. The worst starting center fielder in the history of baseball. Also, they say you win up the middle right? Ummmm can it get much worse than Alomar, jimenez, valentin, and rowand. Other than valentin, and thats very debatable, those players wouldnt be starting players on most teams. Sorry to keep hammering this point, but the sox really do lack talent in key positions.
