And Mark again will probably be near the bottom in run support. He should have an easy extra 10-15 wins in his career with even average run support. He still has to pitch better, but it is a shame.
What, now it's our position player's fault that he can't throw a no hitter everytime out?
-
Didn't we sign Thome forst, then release Frank? That would make them former team mates.
Pass me the trophy . . .
Congrats Tex!

All these guys struggling and yet we are in 1st place...ths baseball season has started well!!
Isn't it great! Yet if you paid attention around here, you would think this was the Detroit Tigers forums.
-
His ERA would probably be cut in half though if Cabrera had made defensive plays in his two bad starts.
Or if our infielders knew how to execute a rundown

I caught it right away, do I get a prize?
Congratulations, you are now a proud owner of a Dundie!

Soooooo their similarity is that people are bashing them.Solid point.
SOOOOOOOOO your purpose for coming to this board is to start problems?
not planning on sticking around long are ya?

I'm very interested to see how this team deals with Wang.
uuuh huh huh you said Wang. that was cool.
-
So, his first year he would have been on pace for a 100 K year, extrapolated over a full year.
His second year, down to 80. ERA was high.
His third year, down to 60ish, but his ERA was low again.
So the thought of his velocity and K rate dropping scares us..... but is he multidimensional enough to still be a top closer? Last year, it seemed to be the case. Didnt have to K people nonstop to still be good.
Yes, hasn't been striking out many this year and he is 6/7 in save opportunities. Sounds pretty effective to me.

Is it possible to refrain from comparing this team to 05? team is different they have nothing to do with each other.
Actually the teams are very similar in the way, that they are winning and people on this board still want to bash them. The same thing happened in 2005. Get the similarity??
The league is differentThe Sox don't play in the American League anymore??? When did this happen.
Seriously if I want to draw comparisons between this team and the 2005 team, or the 1959 team, or whatever. It is my right, It is also your right to not read the posts, or respond to them for that matter.

at least we won't have the typical 'after a loss' thread of "trade bla bla bla bla" or "i hate so and so because he didn't hit a homerun today"
O you mean like this one?
-
We sure do b**** a lot for a 11-7 team. You want to cry about someone not pulling their weight, wait till Memorial Day at least so we can properly evaluate how everyone's doing.
I second that! Seems this season has a 2005 feel to it in more ways than one.
-
I love the way this team has bounced back from bad losses. Really adds to the optimism I already have for it.

Can Frank Thomas still play 1B? Discuss among yourselves. Or maybe Frank-Konerko and Thome can rotate?
You can't be serious
-
The blue jays must be retarded.
They aren't retarded, they're Canadian.

Yet again this guy is off to a slow start and is killing this team. Everytime Konerko bats with runners on it seems like a double play is about to happen or he's gonna strike out. I believe signing this guy long term was one of kw worst moves, as finding a 1b is pretty easy and its very easy to find one that hits over .170 for the first three months of the season while he gets his head out of his ass. This guy don't help the team with the bat and he never stepped up last year when the team sucked as the "team leader". Thank god kw got swish and cabrera, atleast these guys care about winning and have intensity unlike the minivan driving Konerko.
Thome is also off to a slow start but he normally don't stay in a slump for months like Konerko. Hell, this team could call up Josh Fields and Jerry Owens and I gurantee they would produce more than these two guys. owens, cabrera, swisher, thome/fields, dye, quinton, aj, crede, alexai/ozuna/uribe now thats a good lineup. The top 3 have good speed, and it eliminates the logjam of slow, powerhitters that strikeout too much at 3-4-5-6 (konerko, thome, dye, aj).
That's just my opinion. I think these team has a good chance of staying in the playoff chase this year and there "top hitter, team captain" just plain sucks again this year. The pitching and defense has been great this year, but this teams gotta hit too win. Its inexcusable for half this team hover around .200 again, and if that happens, this team will be a sub .500 team again.
Excellent insight you got there. Killing the team he says, and they are winning at a .600 clip. He can kill them all year if those are going to be the results.

The baltimore announcers are pretty good, but the fans are not, they consistently threw HR balls back onto the field. Give it to a kid guys.
Hey, cut the Baltimore fans a little slack, the only fanbase in baseball (or at least the AL) that doesn't release the Boo birds on AJ.
-
and where is Stoney? ? ?
-
you're right, it is. maybe ozzie is hoping to spark uribe a bit although i wonder if he can.
I'll set the over/under to 3 throws by Ramirez, that sail over Paulie's head into the first row of seats, before people start wanting Uribe back in the lineup.
-
I would like the move better if I thought Alexei was any different than Uribe, but so far he has looked unable to hit breaking balls and is trying to lift everything, granted this has been in limited at bats, but at this point he is a downgrade defensively, an upgraded base runner, and probably an equal at the plate. I would rather have Alexei go down to AAA and get everyday at bats until he can get Joboo to have his bat not fear curve balls anymore.
Wouldn't you have to get on base first, before you could be considered an upgrade?
-
Down the toilet. That's where I'd put him.
Yeah we still got him, we let the good pitcher go, what was his name.....oh yeah David Riske, the guy about ready to become the closer in Milwaukee.
-
AKA a torn rotator cuff? Yeah, if Boone catches that it might hurt him.
Or AKA stupidity, because if you are pitching with a bum shoulder, you got rocks in your head.
-
the best thing about Boone is that he is so young. If Kenny plays his cards right, this could be a nice lefty out of the pen for the next decade.
If he don't catch Cliff Politte Syndrome

Where do you rank Frank Thomas in terms of all-time White Sox players?

I don't have a problem ranking him #1 among that group. It's when you throw in Shoeless Joe, that I start to waiver, but then again I wasn't around to see him play(or most of the others for that matter) so, Hey what the hell do I know anyway??
