Magic Number count
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) As of the twins loss a couple minutes ago our magic number is at 11 right now. (mods feel free to correct this if I'm mistaken) Even through all of our injuries we're still playing .500 ball and closing in on a playoff spot with the Twins fading down the stretch. 12 I believe.

Loser
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) Well one thing is clear: If it's close and late, we're dead. Obviously the offense deserves some blame for their atrocious effort this evening, as 2 runs won't win you a lot of big games. But at the same time, if it's 2-2, 5-5, or 8-8, and the 7th inning or later, we're in trouble unless the starter is still in. Our only chance right now is to build up a lead of significance and hope the bullpen can only give up a couple of runs. That's a rough way to go, especially with all the injuries to everyday players, but it's all we have. Ozzie took Mark out an inning too early tonight, but with the way our offense and bullpen looked, I'm not sure it mattered all that much. Know what, the Twins are in the same position the Sox are.

Luckily the Twins lose which is really great because they still have to face Cliff Lee. I'll pretend that the Sox lost because of the late games and getting in late (even know that's probably not the case).

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) how has travis hafner completely avoided the steroid suspicions? He looks exactly the same as he did before. He just sucks now.

Grif is showing some range today in center. I mean, range for him.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) I'm really hoping 5-5 but I might be satisfied with 4-6 if we took two from the twins. While I think the same thing, remember we play the Royals. All I want is a split against the Yankees, 2 from the Royals, and see what happens in Minny.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) Can anyone remember the last time we put a couple good offensive games together? I'd seriously like to know. Probably when the MVP was in the lineup.

Another wasted quality start for a team that can't afford to waste any.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) So why didn't MacDougal start this inning? Oz probably had him for the 8th. Then there was the obligatory implosion.
-
Sox @ Yanks 6:05 on CSN
MacDougal warming. Ground rule double. And the pen begins to implode.
-
Sox @ Yanks 6:05 on CSN
God I though Griffey hit that a lot harder.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) What happened on the Dye play? He ran to the foul line and jumped as though it was going to the seats, but then it came back over into fair ground for a double Nice play OC!

Griffey with a real nice play right there.
