  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 04:24 PM) I thank Gardenhire for going with Liriano yesterday. I understand his thinking - get a win and have a chance to sweep going into the series with the sox. But it's also a boost to the sox not having to face a lefty in the dome (ie, death). Make no mistake, minny is thinking of one thing: sweep. And they have nothing to lose and a sellout crowd to rile them up. man, i miss carlos. Uh...they have their playoff hopes to lose.
  2. I just don't want to see a circus act out there. The Twins beating the ball into the ground and the Sox defense throwing balls away, misplaying hops, losing the ball in the roof...garbage like that. The Twins are the ones under pressure. If the Sox let the game come to them they will be ok.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) They lost two straight to Detroit a couple of weeks ago, IIRC. You're right. Sept. 6-7.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) If we know anything about Kenny, he will trade anyone. If he feels like he can spend money smarter, or get a key player, he will trade Swish or PK in about a second. Yeah, but it isn't likely with those two guys after the years they've had.
  5. Traded. Wouldn't either Swisher or PK have to be traded for BA to start? That's not likely.
  6. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 12:22 AM) Another thing to note: we haven't been swept in our last 25 series dating back to the June series with the Cubs. The Twins have been swept 4 times since then, except all have been on the road. I think our team is mentally tough enough, and talented enough to get a win in Minnesota. I'll have to check again, but unless this streak was snapped this month, the Twins haven't lost consecutive games at home since May against the Yankees. So the Sox better take game 1.
  7. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) By my calculations, we've won 1 road series against a winning team this season (which is pathetic). So I'm not getting my hopes up for this series. I will be fine if we win one game. Just don't get swept. 3 series I think. Tampa, Cleveland (they are 1 game over), and the Dodgers.
  8. 5! 5 games! HA! HA! HA! Rally Count
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) Didn't you see the video from Spring Training with Joe Cowley betting AJ that he could steal off him...it was pretty funny. Yeah, AJ could throw me out if these pitchers are out there holding the ball.
  10. As many stolen bases as I've seen, these pitchers have been fantastic at keeping them from scoring.
  11. I wonder if I could steal on this pitching staff.
  12. Broadway up? I'm assuming just getting work in.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) If we do make the playoffs, I would have no idea how to order our first four guys. Realistically, Danks has been our best pitcher this season...but you have the feeling Coop would go with Buehrle and Vazquez, then Floyd. At least that's who they wanted to face the Twins next week. My guess is MB, Floyd, Danks, Vaz Mixes the lefties and the veteran starts the series.
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) Its Bandon Duckworth. Minor leaguers hit him. so how does that affect this team?
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) I said this in chat, and I'm sure it will annoy some people: after seeing their energy in a pennant race, it doesn't surprise me that Thome and Griffey Jr. don't have a World Series ring. To be fair, they are old now. But it's an interesting point. Even PK has turned it on in September after an awful season.
  16. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) Anybody who tries to make the Duckworth performance into anything else but our offense sucking needs to get a clue. This is not just a pitcher having a great game, this is an offense trying to show how terrible it truly is. He's allowed 1 homer in about 30 innings now this season. I doubt things are going to improve for the offense today.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) Doubtful Besides his homers, it's been bad.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 02:50 PM) Has anyone looked at Swisher's away stats this year? Holy cow, he f***ing sucks. .185 batting average and an OPS not close to .600. His season has to rank as one of the worst in franchise history, right?
