There was very little enthusiasm in that lol. I liked #1 though. I missed 10, 9, and 8.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) The only thing we could get back are PTBNL. If I'm not mistaken, yes we can. From what I understand, anyone not on the 40-man roster can be traded in a waiver deal.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) But maybe he'll be more willing to if the offense continues to struggle and we fall 7-8 games out come August 15th. He's not going to blow the team up via waiver trades.
-
KW will NOT be a seller, even if we lose every game from now until August 1st and Detroit/Minnesota win every single one.
-
Enough of the excuses. Enough of the dome. Rock 'em. Go get 'em Mark, time to start a winning streak. Just f***ing do it.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) Well...knowing KW, and since Erstad was the last guy we brought in for the position (not counting Swisher or Griffey), do you really think that KW dares to go into 2010 with Pods and Quentin as his starters with nobody else in the mix for those positions as "insurance"? Just very frustrating to go for 4+ years now without a legitimate, everyday, above-average MLB CFer, when the division has Granderson and Sizemore to show our ineptitude every series. Even Crisp and Gomez/Span are All-Stars compared to our production from that position. This season, our CF have hit .225 with a .285 OBP and a .598 OPS. 3 HR and 20 RBI combined.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Maybe it's me, but there's less activity on this board after losses than at any time in the past 5 years (besides for when we went into the tank in 2007). Hell, there's not even White Sox Loser threads anymore. I see that as a good thing. Either way, we get some sort of thread after every loss, usually regarding one of the reasons we lost the game.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) Getz's defense leaves a lot to be desired. I wish the Sox would get a third baseman and let Beckham move to 2B which should be his position for the next twenty years or so. The thing I don't like about Getz defensively is how long it takes him to get rid of the ball sometimes. Overall, I'd say he's been pretty damn good. He does a good job of hanging in there when turning double plays, and has great range on pop flies to short RF and in foul territory.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Swordfish and Wild Smoked Salmon are pretty great. So is quality Trout. Nothing like frying up fresh fish that you caught earlier that day. I love trout.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:42 PM) Getz has been pretty good late in games. You're right though, we had just terrible hitting from the 7th inning on it seems all year. How many game winning hits have we even had at home this year? Beckham's vs the Cubs, but who else? Exactly why Getz needs to be playing more.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) I don't feel like digging through BR, if you want to, you are more than welcome, but his numbers tell me he has been productive vs. LHP, and my eyes have told me he plays a very good 2B. He has a place on this roster, and is/can be a useful piece. I just said, I like him as a utility man, but he plays too much for my liking.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) Has Jermaine? Has anyone?
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) Even though he was an .816 OPS against LHP this season, and is the best defensive player on the roster. I hate to sound like Hawk, but has he done anything in the clutch for us?
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) And now the Cubs are threatening. Could this night get any worse? Ya, Detroit could win. f*** the Cubs.
-
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) do you think in their new ballpark things will change or is it their style of play that kills us? I'm willing to bet that we dominate them in their new stadium, much like we dominate them at home.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) Why would you get rid of Nix? I've never been a big fan of him. I don't recall him every getting a hit when we needed one. He's a decent utility guy, but I don't like that he basically starts for Getz whenever a lefty is on the mound.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) Yes, I absolutely will criticize a guy whose job is to get a good pitch to hit and extend the game, who swings at the 1st pitch at an alarming rate. you take pitches, and you get a good pitch to hit, If you don’t get a pitch to hit, you don’t swing. AJ doesn’t this s*** all the time, I love him, but it’s true. The problem with him, and Alexei too, is that they automatically assume that the 1st pitch will be a fastball right down the middle. And if it's not, they don't hit it hard.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Yeah, I can't wait for him to come up and strike out in 1/3 of his ABs!! At least he'll walk another 1/3.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) Sit ALexei tomorrow. Nix at SS, Getz at 2B. Get rid of Nix, get rid of Fields, get rid of all these AAAA players.
-
Ugh.
-
That was the pitch to hit Gordo.
-
I hate the Minnesota Twins.
-
AJ excited for the post-game meal.
-
I think we all would pay for that Hawk.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) The ball hits the baggie. The baggie finally comes loose and falls on JD. JD has to scurry out from underneath it before he can throw the ball. That could potentially lead to multiple inside-the-parkers by the same batter.
