Burger, Anderson and Garcia have combined for a -.3 WAR this year. The faster we can distance ourselves from that era, the better.

    And Jose Abreu is a -1.1 WAR after 51 ABs and a -22 OPS+.

  2. Lololol I literally just read the new propaganda piece from Merkin with the headline "With warrior mentality, Eloy pushes forward" then cruised over here to find out he just hit the IL.  Somebody put this clown show franchise in a body bag already.

The sad thing is that the things that make Moncada hard to trade will also make Robert hard to trade. Both have the ability to be as bad as 1.5 win players and as good as a 5 win player.

Yep, two of the more frustrating guys I've ever watched.  Moncada looks like a different guy so far this season on the effort front, shame he decided to coast through his tenure here and will never reach his full potential.  Robert at least appears to try, but goes through such brutal stretches where he looks lost and caught in between.  Hopefully Robert figures it out here soon and goes on a run, guy is quite fun to watch when he's locked in.

I think we're going to have to come to grips that Robert has as much swing and miss in his game as Moncada and will be similarly inconsistent from season to season. We've already seen it.

What's maddening about this is he appears to be taking breaking pitches away much better so far this season, but now can't catch up to the heaters over the plate.

That would be idiotic, because the odds are Ohtani will only last 5-7 years after a second TJS/revision.

He would likely have to DH at that point for fear of another tear in the OF. or play 1st like Harper.

Yeah, I more meant it like some uber rich team that doesn't really need Soto will get him and the rich will continue to get richer while the Sox further fade into obscurity.

  6. Dylan has been a favorite the past few years.  He will be missed and wish him the best of luck in SD.  I'll never understand why he didn't keep calling his own pitches after his opening start vs Houston last year, that was one of the most fun pitching performances to watch in a while.

I was reading Heymans article from yesterday. He "confirmed" that the package of prospects the O's just traded was what they offered to Getz for Cease.

Glad Getz held firm and didn't take it.

These remind me of the $35 dollar jerseys that I used to buy from China.

I'd actually argue my $35 circa 2006 Chinese Joe Crede jersey actually looks better than these!

My favorite is going to Blackhawks games and looking at everyone's bootleg jerseys, Black Hawk should be looking straight forward, he's often gazing upwards or looking down on the knockoffs.

    Lineup:

If Holliday (MLB Pipeline’s No. 1 overall prospect) makes the team -- a “very strong possibility,” per GM Mike Elias -- then the 20-year-old could see a good bit of time at second. If he doesn’t, Westburg could play more second and versatile infielder Ramón Urías would get more starts.

Btw, Ortiz (2B) and DJ Hall (5th spot) both starting for MIL.

Basallo, Mayo, Cowser, Kjerstad…that’s still quite the depth chart.  Along with Bradfield, everything well timed for the next wave to eventually replace those five vets in the lineup.

I moved back to IL from CA over the offseason and now no longer have a need for the MLB app to watch Sox games, but I just may need to keep it just to watch this squad.  Hopefully all the Baltimore trolls don't see this, but I'm pretty jealous of them right now.

    If he's allowed

It will be interesting if nothing else.  I would hope he's allowed a payroll of at least $100M, would Jerry stoop so far as to only allow a bottom 5-8 payroll in the league?

I've been told he's claiming internally that the Sox have lost $100-$150M in the past 2 years, which seems incredibly hard to believe, but it does scare me that he's set on completely tanking until after the stadium is done.
