  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) I'm pretty sure just about every parent has said something to their child that they have regretted. The fact the the mother makes this public is just as troubling. Kinda what I thought too. I'm guessing that Alec Baldwin wouldn't win and Daddy of the Year awards but I'm willing to bet that he's usually a lot better of a father than that. I think its awful that it got leaked to the media though. I would imagine that would make things even worse.
  2. The seats are pretty comfortable actually and there's AC power at every row of seats.
  3. The Wii is all about people outside the gaming demo. It's why it will crush 360 and the PS3.
  4. Bring your own food and drink. Amtrak food isn't just bad from the Lounge car isn't just bad, its expensive. And, IIRC, they no longer prepare fresh food in the dining cars. Padlock your bags. The first 24 hour Amtrak ride I was on, their was a pickpocket in my car, the second time, some dude tried to steal my laptop.
  5. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) Sounds like some advice that the Dixie Chicks should have taken instead of their whining about 'censorship'. Yup, you're right. And the Dixie Chicks "censorship" had more to do with disrespecting Toby Keith than anything else btw.
  6. I've seen a lot of issues with the White Sox this year that seem systemic. The whole BA/Erstad thing for one. The way our hitting isn't catching, the way our pitching looks early in games. One of the things I loved about the White Sox for the last few years is that it seems that at least the managers didn't get in the way of putting the team in such a bad way to win. Or maybe I just wasn't as conscious of that. This year, I just don't feel that way. I don't feel like our pitching and hitting coaches are getting their jobs done and our players aren't ready coming out of the dugout. It feels to me like personal issues are coming up in management decisions and even though the players aren't doing their job - it feels like the managers aren't doing their job either. I think it might be time for an organizational shakeup. I like BA a lot, but if he's not going to get the playing time he needs to be effective and develop him as a player, send him to Charlotte - or trade him to a team where he might be of use. And maybe we need to think about some changes in the coaching staff. Something here doesn't feel right. The atmosphere doesn't seem as loose and productive as it has in the past few years. It just feels like the people KW hired to turn the team away from the atmosphere it had four years ago are now creating that atmosphere - and it shows in our effort.
  7. It's nice to see Erstad having a good series, but as a leadoff man, I'll pass. At the very least, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to platoon him with Brian Anderson, and give the kid some more starts and playing time. 16 games in, and the kid still doesn't have 10 at bats yet.
  8. QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) Damn huge park. Juany with a flyout to Granderson. And it used to be bigger. In 2003, they moved the walls in.
  9. Marc Maron made the first intelligent comment I've heard on this situation last week. He said that it's not censorship to get fired for a joke that goes too far and that you have the right to free speech, but you also have to face consequences for your actions. You can say whatever you want, but that doesn't mean you get to keep your job. I have the right to call the woman sitting next to me a derogatory term, for example, but it doesn't mean I have the right for her to be nice to me, or even to keep my job. In the context of that show, Imus made fun of people he shouldn't have been made fun of - not because of Al Sharpton or anyone else offended but because the joke wasn't funny, and it just came off mean. But what's worse was that his producer immediately followed and used the word "jigaboo" which in my opinion is way way way more offensive. Imus didn't dump that word, didn't even challenge the producer on its use. It's his show, his name and his reputation. And he didn't seem to mind people using his reputation to use obvious racial slurs on tv and radio. Let's be honest here, Imus got fired because he went over the line, and his employers - at least in this case - decided that they had some standards about what is and isn't acceptable. Whatever their motivation for it.
  10. I'd rather the guy who got caught and admitted he got caught, rather than use his sexuality to escape the fact that what he did was illegal - and as such completely unrelated to the fact that he's gay.
  11. Erstad is now 3 for his last 37 for a .081 batting average. And his on base percentage is a stunningly awesome .128 (5-39)
  12. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) He doesnt have the hair for that role "Believe it or not, its just meeeee!!" How weird, the George Costanza answering machine episode is on right now.
  13. I think its "No Smallball Week" at the Cell. The Sox are clearly only allowed to score by Home Run this week.
  14. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) AJP workin' the count for a walk. BA would have made it to second on that ball 4. That clearly woulda been an inside the park homewalk for either BA OR Chuck Norris
  15. Brian Anderson woulda made it a two run shot if he was Sosa. Alls I'm saying.
  16. QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 08:04 PM) i agree. i know people are upset about BA but why isnt Ozuna getting any love either? Ozuna has one more start than BA so far this year.
  17. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) Screw it, he should just punch Padilla regardless. Might actually get him back in the good graces of his boss.
  18. Seriously a ten game suspension would just mean a more comfortable seat to watch the game from for BA.
  19. In the last six games Darin Erstad has played, he is .048 with one walk and six strikeouts. (1-21) In the last six games Brian Anderson has played, he is .125 with one walk and three strikeouts. (1-8)
  20. All I can think of is the episode of Homer challenging everyone to a duel.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) As opposed to the non-exsistant gun toting mobs looking to get into shootouts at the drop of a hat at Chuck E Cheese's? OK. That is why I never went to Chuck E Cheese. That mouse thing creeped me out.
