  1. The jitters shouldn't be too bad. He's dominated at home in the minors, with an ERA under 2. He's pitching against an anemic offense and its so cold that its hard to hit. He has the advantage. He just needs to remember that. On the other hand, could someone please buy the Reds 1st baseman a bigger glove, so that he might could catch a freaking ball! 4 runs in the first? Grrrrr.
  2. So, when the Sox sweep tonight and the Tigers will have scored under 10 runs in 6 games, how long will Tramm last as skipper of the Tigers? I remember people in Michigan being all excited about getting Tramm and Gibby back involved with the team. But I kept trying to explain that if you only make moves on the coaching staff, you don't win games. And also, I miss Bobby Fick in the Tigers lineup. So many great insults, so little time.
  3. *uses his right to remain silent on the right to remain silent*
  4. He's already there. But he's a lot better for his cause silent than alive or dead. If he just "spirits" away, it becomes easier to become mythologized.
  5. If I have upper deck tickets and the deck is empty, I'm usually sitting in Box Seats by the 5th.
  6. however, a lot of these chemicals are very easy to produce and you dont need to be a state to make them. Ricin can be made with baby formula and castor beans. A couple bottles of household chemicals mixed together can kill thousands too. If we're worried about the release of chemicals, why would we attack a secular arab state? He was a threat to his people when he gassed them 15 years ago. Except then he was an ally. The chemical weapons he has are something Rumsfeld helped him obtain. And being a threat to his own people does not justify massive military operations on our part. There's a reason why its called defense, not offense.
  7. It won't, but he isn't alone. There is some support for the bill though. That's what scares me. The administration is lying and they don't need to. This is one of the most successful military operations ever. There are all sorts of reasons why this war is not the right thing to do Apu, but the argument against oil is a nonstarter. If it was really about oil, the US would allow the UN to lift sanctions.
  8. Depends on which record you get. It was also released as Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye (no parentheses). But it is by Steam and released in 1969. Steam was a group of session musicians who I don't think did more than the one record BTW. There was also a big hit in 1994 called "Steam" in Europe by a very lame ass boy band called East 17. But that has nothing to do with anything.
  9. Apu, more asshatness abounds. Did you see the State senator in Oregon who introduced a bill that states being at a protest where one person commits an act of civil disobedience would equate you as a terrorist. At which point you would face a minimum sentence of 25 years? Or did you hear Woolsley's comments this week when he spoke. (He's supposed to be a key figure in the US mil. administration of Iraq post war) He called this a new world war and pretty much said. "Hey Syria, Egypt, Iran and Saudi Arabia, you're next!" Great way to make us seem like liberators, eh?
  10. The white powder was explosive, not chemical or biological weapon. If the guy was such a threat, why was it this easy?
  11. Now if there could only be more Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law episodes. Or Aqua Teen Hunger Force every day.
  12. TV coverage has made me sick. Christ, last night I saw a graphic on MSNBC about what the rescued POW wanted to eat for her first meal home. I'd been mainly watching that channel because it seemed the least Wargasmic of all the news nets. A couple of things I've been dying to point out. 1. Questioning the risks that the US warplan left - is not the same as saying the war plan has failed. Especially when you have some very well informed commentators at places like CNN, including Clark - who was Supreme Commander of NATO during the 1990s. That's just called asking a tough question. And that's what the media's role is. 2. If a news net has to remind you that they are fair and balanced every five minutes, they probably aren't.
  13. The only thing about the Upper Deck that I hated was being on the sides. In particular, I remember sitting in the top corner on the first base side. That was a recipe for vertigo because when everyone cheered, you can feel it. Personally, I think every ball park should have a little discomfort factor, especially if you wanna go "retro". Put a few seats behind some pillars... or make some of the seats difficult to access. Screw comfort, this is baseball. Next thing I know, people will be whining for more retractable domes. :Shudder:
  14. Aw gee. Thanks This sox fan lives near Detroit. Although I might see a game at the Cell this weekend if I'm lucky. :-)
  15. The Tigers will have no friends at home. They took in the fences this year before they realized that they have no pitching or hitting. So more homers at Comerica, just all off Tigers' pitchers. Part of me thinks that this opening series may just be karma for renaming Comiskey after a cell phone.
  16. I'd like to point out that Tampa Bay also went 3-0 at the start of last year. They swept the Yankees.
