  1. Hey congrats to the original poster, I deem you king of Chicago baseball mugshot photoshops. Your competition It was close until I got to your Konerko and that put you over the top...
  2. For the most part you're right but there are a couple of us that know how trades work (but hendry has pulled off a couple of nice trades like that.... 3 prospects got Nomar and a prospect)
  3. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) i would have never of guessed lawton, he didnt get any better this year either. wow awesome that a former cub was a steroid user, now i can bash the cubs even more lol I took these paragraphs straight from Desipio.com because they are hilarious
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) FWIW, ESPN Radio 1000 is starting the "Cubs Are Players in Everybody" storyline for the offseason... they said they're after Furcal, Burnett, and Juan Pierre in a trade with Florida The way I heard it was Pierre was if they didn't get Furcal.
  5. I really doubt that Konerko gets that kind of deal, I think the Mets were the only team that would give Beltran 7 years and he is much younger. Probably unpopular for most Sox fans, but I'd rather trade for Overbay than sign Konerko.
  6. This was a perfect trade neither team missed the players they lost. Sox obviously won the WS and Pods was a catalyst for the offense. I think the thing that gets overlooked is that the Breweres replaced Pods with a player that had a better year than him by tons, check out Brady Clark's stats from this year... very nice. Plus they added a slugger that enjoys to smack around on a division rival of theirs
  7. I think they should put Lawton on a poster advertising that Steroids don't help you. His cubs & (i think) yankees numbers were terrible.
  8. Patterson is not my Ideal CF, but if the Cubs sign Furcal & Giles (or get another high guality RF), upgrade at 2B (Walker is more than likely going to be traded). Patterson batting 8th would not be the end of the world. I imagine if he played the whole year he would be from .250-.275 with 15-20HR. My choices for CF would be 1. Lofton 2. Hairson 3. Pierre (there's chatter about trading for him) 4. Patterson 5. Damon (to many years, just not worth it)
  9. Hey guys I'm (obviously) a Cubs fan, but I"m not an asshole or anything. I'm just here to talk baseball. I don't think Wood has been healthy since the time he went down in the beginning of '04. He was awesome in '03 and the beginning of '04. Now that he's gotten surgery, maybe he will be back to form in '06... maybe not who know's He couldn't locate in the first inning and gave up 3 solo home runs. He then pitched 5 innings of 2 hit ball in that game. 6IP/3ER still a quality start. (I agree he's got problmes though, he throws to many pitches he should be attacking the zone more) ----------------- Now for me personally to even consider the Cubs a playoff team these things need to be done A) A right fielder with some pop, and good OBP - ideally Giles B) Shortstop - ideally Furcal C) A middle reliever - ideally a lights out one D) Maybe another starter Murton is perfectly fine in left, Patterson won't repeat his '05 numbers but he's not going to be an all-star or anything the Cubs can be succesfull with him in Center, a replacement would be alright too. The thing the Cubs need most is HEALTH and CONSISTENCY. I don't think the Cubs will make the playoffs in '06.
