  1. I'm confused by this move. I like the idea of getting two arms for one. But these two? I have to believe KW is going to move one more pitcher. Vazquez?
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) Horrible outfield defense (pods/Mack) may not be a top 3 reason why the Sox didn't make the postseason but it was a major contributing factor to 2006 Chicago White Sox post-AllStar Break suck fest. I agree with you, Kalapse. And I have always thought that Mack's offense never outweighed his defensive shortcomings, it's just that the number of blown plays don't outweigh the number of poor pitching performances, especially out of the bullpen.
  3. Could Gooch play another infield position if Soriano took 2B?
  4. I think it's shortsighted to move Garcia. Same goes for Mark. I know they looked like s*** this year, but Greg is right: there is no available starting picthing in baseball. Now, maybe that means we could get more for him. But that means we could get more for anyone. I'm still waiting to see how many of our pitchers will need surgery this off season. Will Garcia be among them? Contreras? Cotts? It's tough for me to buy the Konerko theory of fatigue for the whole team, but for the pitching staff, it makes sense, especially for Freddy.
  5. I'm not sure if BA's lack of play this season is that high on the list of why we didn't make the playoffs. I've puzzled over the why of it all for a while now, and the best I can come up with is the lopsided performance. Starting pitching without offense. Offense without pitching. Finally, of course, it was the pitching that finally ruined us. Joey Cora didn't help. And Ozzie's irrational managing of the pitching staff. God, it's so depressing. I don't even know who to root for. I don't hate the Twins, never have. I do hate the Tigers, though not as much as the Yanks. Couldn't care less about the As, even with Frank. If I had to put money on it now, it would go on the Twins to go all the way.
  6. Bobby looked like s*** again. Hip? Back? The velocity wasn't there, and he had no movement. Where was Macdougal?
  7. God damn it we needed that, and we needed this night.
  8. Every time I think I have a handle on this question I see something that confuses the hell out of me. During the Series last year, I saw tons of Sox gear, even exchanged a handful of "Go Sox!" chants with pedestrians in my Brooklyn neighborhood (and these are people who recognize my 1983 cap). But lately it's been only sporadic sightings, usually on young guys who couldn't possibly be from Chicago. Maybe they're just bowled over by the undeniable awesomeness of our team. By the way: if you don't have MLB Extra Innings, Hooters Times Sq. has thirty-some screens and will happily turn to the game you ask for if the ESPN Zone isn't playing what you want.
  9. QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) It's not hard to score tickets NORMALLY against the White Sox, but I don't know if this year will be different considering we're the Champs. Buying them the day they go on sale isn't a bad idea to be safe. I don't mind the bleachers. As Steff said, it's an alcohol free section - but the craiziest/most hardcore fans sit there, so if you wear Sox gear, you're sure to have an interesting time. I usually go to a bar or place that sells beer and pop a few down before the game...works for me. EDIT: If you do bleachers, don't do them for every game b/c you won't have access to the rest of the stadium (including monument park). The bleachers are a seperate entrance. I'd say avoid the bleachers if possible. Beer is essential to putting up with obnoxious Yankees fans. I'm up for a group outing to watch the Sox defend against the Yanks. Definitely have to get tix as soon as they go on sale, though. I've waited in the past, and they always sell out.
