yeah, I wanted a better translation of "resist the evil doer" (sounds like something bushy would say) That's from "the message" bible. I liked it's perspective. I think it misses a point, though. Turning the other cheek isn't something that someone can do when in a submissive role. If Rocky Balboa punched me on the right side of my face, if I turned my cheek it's really not saying a whole lot. The perspective I take is that Jesus, being God the son, took his death as the ultimate turning of the cheek. he was struck and struck again, and when he could have called down the wrath of God, he didn't. The point being that turning the other cheek is about submission when truly one could vanquish the guilty party....hence the evil doer part. I don't think I'm in a position to really meet the requirements of this passage, but thanks for bringing it up, it's a great piece of scripture. I love Luke 13, personally.

I'm speaking out on the side of stay at home moms, teachers, and librarians, who THK said they didn't have real jobs... it doesn't apply to me at all, don't quote scripture at me...

yeah, it usually works within 72 hours of the incident... which typically the woman knows about if she using this pill to stop conception. I know a girl who was 17 and walked into planned parenthood and got the morning after pill twice in 6 months, no questions asked...except, you're 18 right? good. -

I bow to the post, but I also recognize John Mccain as being an ass. also: If miss pa were raped and she were pregnant, then I'd probably make her take the morning after pill. Like I said, where does life begin? conception is the start to life, but I would probably rest in the heart beat being the start. I would guess that would be GWB's thoughts too. good post. -
did you notice what Laura Bush said? "no apology needed" it 100% represents what Matthew 5 was talking about. THK didn't say what she said to me personally, but I will hold her accountable for the things she says and the clear picture of elitism that she portrays. study up:

hahahaha.... I love it. I didn't say I agree with the guy, I just like hearing far superiour right wing rants than what I am comfortable with. I feel so centrist.

John Kerry voted against the partial birth abortion ban because it didn't have the "in cases of rape, etc, etc.." clause in it. George Bush doesn't support that clause. again, show me the inconsistency -

where does life begin? when a baby breaths fresh air? or when the heart starts pumping? While I buy into the anti-death penalty somewhat, I know that it's not necessarily a black and white answer when it comes to death and the bible. At some point God cherishes life, but I don't know if God cherishes the entirity of a persons life. There comes a point where a person forever choses to be the enemy of God. just curious, I'm not really sure. -
I'm not going to touch the Church and homosexual debate, the bible's clear enough. From a psychological and physiological stand point, where does homosexuality come from? because I can accept that it's not a choice, but it has to come from somewhere... like being tall or being near sighted or having cerebral palsay. but also isn't there a possibility for nurture to have affected the development of a child? like a child being timid because of an over-bearing mother or being anorexic because of the pressures society puts on us or being sexual molested. I'm not looking for an arguement, but what I'm looking for is honest answers. I'm going to attempt to remove all forms of condescention from my thoughts, because I'm truly ignorant on this subject. if anyone has studies or research that I can look at, I'm very interested. some things that I have heard are: -some homosexuals have different sized brains and other physiological differences than heterosexuals. -70-80% of lesbians were sexual abused as children my thoughts on those things are: 1) the development of a fetus is extremely effected by what a woman does to her body. With the lack of personal responsibility so rampant in our culture, its no wonder children are born with more and more abnormalities, such as ADD, Autism, and (dare I say it) homosexuality. 2) with so many lesbians having negative sexual experiences at young ages, primarily with male friends and family members, it makes sense that some women take the path of highly sexualized relationships with men and others seem to take the path of experimentation and companionship with women 3) I guess I just don't know why homosexuality isn't categorized as any other learned or born-in deficiency. There's a clear design of animals that involves reproduction. Obviously pleasure from sex needs to be taken in account, but I can derive pleasure from a relationship with a chicken, if so desired. 4) If we offer civil unions to homosexuals, why do we shun relatives from relationships? If it's not about reproduction, and homosexuals conviently don't have teen pregnancy risks, why couldn't a brother have a vasectomy and then marry his sister? I just thought I'd bring this up, since you're obviously talking about it in your post. please, enlighten me.

Because I think Theresa Heinz-Kerry is a heartless wench? and I called her the Ketchup Whore on some meaningless baseball sub category thread? As a woman you should be pissed at THK for insulting every person who doesn't have a billion dollars and a bad hair cut. She has no respect for anyone like myself or miss pa, and therefore I have no respect for her. right... honey, don't hurt yourself with a response.

For those with little or no no religious or Christian education, it's easy to understand that "God speaks through me" is an ackward phrase. It's actually an unselfish wish and desire that embodies the idea that the words and actions that you or I say and do, are not simply contrived from our own limited comprehension and facilities, but that of God's Spirit, Grace and blessings. It's ok to think it's creepy, but realize it shows your lack of understanding the issue. John Kerry is trying to pander to undecided conservatives by talking about his faith and shooting guns. (because obviously those go hand in hand). My point is that his timing is a clear picture to anyone with the gift of testing the spirit (also a concept you're probably not familiar with) that he's way off in his faith. that's my point. -
all I see is a sac fly to left center field...

Seperate thought, but I'll refrain from starting another thread.... My brother says to him it's vague when " what does that mean to you? ( I know what it means to me...) by the way, here's the context: John 14 Jesus Comforts His Disciples 1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[1] ; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going." Jesus the Way to the Father 5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[2] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." 8Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." 9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

The year of Jubilee is also a celebration where people forgave greivences and debts and set prisoners free, etc. I think Jesus' purpose, however, is to remove the barrier that judaism had put between God and the lay person.

I'll still be "born again", because Classic PA was the same way... what I'll admit is that Politics drive me friggin' insane, and that's a primary stressor in my life. I get crazy over lies on both sides, but I suppose I'm just sick of seeing the left have their thumbs on the scales and no one calling them on it. "I have a plan...I would have done things better..." That's not worth changing for, and I suppose that's why I'm so friggin' riled up. As for all this church talk and false prophet stuff, I'm mostly serious and mostly joking. My brother is in y'alls camp, but I still love him and talk to him 3-4 times a week. So there's definitely no reason that once this thing is over, we can all meet up at Benigan's for din din. by the way Jim, I don't think your scientific explanations for life and creation are 100% exclusive from my faith. I have no idea how things were created, but I have an idea about why and by whom. We're kinda on opposite sides of that answer, really. Once again, I'm sorry you've had bad experiences with Christian friends being "lost" to the faith. It doesn't have to be that way here. -

I don't necessarily know the biblical context or precedence for it, but to an extent I understand the confession of sin to another person. I think it's one step of faith to admit you're a sinner, but a bigger difference to admit it to a group. Think about AA, everyone that attends admits that they have a problem that is bigger than they are, and that they are powerless against it. The chose a group setting to help each other cope with the inability to handle sin....er, alcoholism. In reality, AA meetings are more like new testament churches, than Fill in the blank mega church.

I totally agree with you, and that's why I can only handle a 20-30 minute segment at a time. My dial is turned to 1210 the big talker in Phily... with GLEN BECK... he's awesome and just says it like it is. Michael Savage is great too.
