  1. That's how you take a pitch so Scott can steal, Tadahito.
  2. QUOTE(keninem @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) I love Thome, but how many times has he tied it up in a close/late sitiuation? I can remember a couple of excellent efforts by Thome versus Santana, Seattle and St. Louis, although in the last case, it was a two run shot to put us within one with no outs. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) A win would be a huge turn of events. Especially since the season was over an hour ago.
  3. I think there should be a SoxTalk rule about declaring a game over before it is, especially more than once in said game.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) I think if he can hit Schilling, he can hit Timlin. It just seems almost everytime the Sox pinch hit and weaken their defense, the ball starts heading towards that weakness. I'm with you. Ozzie's the one who loves the matchup.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Anderson has hit well today. I don't understand hitting for him in a tie game. If Mack is retired, the defense takes a huge hit. The matchup.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) Rob's hitting for the wrong guy. Like last time?
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Is Pods playing Loretta on the warning track? He should have had an easy play at the plate. If Vazquez allows a run this inning, every pitcher on our team will have allowed a run this series. Thornton let in a run?
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) The fat red cubs fan is pointing to his tits for whatever reason. I caught that too
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Strike zone all over the place now. Yeah, he needs to get fired.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Um, no he didn't. And even if he did, wouldn't that show you he's not comfortable swinging trying to protect all the time? I read that he told management he wanted to bat lower in the order because in Japan he was a power and RBI guy. And yeah, Gooch is a bit uncomfortable protecting. He'd rather swing the bat. But it's not like he's not used to it.
  11. Bobby used to be a starter. He can handle another inning.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Actually, it's extremely obvious. Iguchi never swings quite as well with Pods in motion. I think it's one of the reasons they wanted to move Iguchi down in the order. Iguchi requested to be moved down.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) You can just tell how much Pods running screws with Iguchi's swing. Oh, because Pods hasn't been batting and stealing ahead of Iguchi for the last year and a half, right?
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Nah...if they win it, they likely had an amazing season. Yeah, well, Cy Young was a starter, wasn't he? I know Gagne did great, and Papelbon appears on pace, but they don't pitch two hundred beautiful innings. Just my opinion, though.
  15. Chicago isn't a nice place for closers. On the Northside, they get rocked daily! On the Southside, they take it whenever they come to town.
  16. A bit off topic, but am I the only one who has a problem with Closers winning a Cy Young award?
