There is not much of a gap there at all currently. Kap has been in the league 1 year longer, however has 9 less regular season starts. If you look at the 2nd half of this season, one player has improved and one has regressed, there is your reason.

He was never a pocket passer and has been asked to learn it begining this year. Each game he continues to get better and reading progressions, making good decisions. On top of that, he seems to have an ability to come from behind (clutch gene) and he is racking up some very impressive playoff wins, especially on the road. He took a lot of heat early in the season, deservedly so after all his off season self promoting, but I give the guy credit for seemingly climbing past that throughout the year.

Russell Wilson has been lights out the last 5 weeks, not so much. He will prove to be the most overrated of the new QB's. He can't see over the line which is why most plays are designed around him breaking left or right to throw. Now that D's have learned to contain on the outside, he hasn't been scrambling and completing many passes. Guy has no doubt been fun at times to watch over the past year given his ability to escape the pocket and make big plays, but the tide is turning.

But bottom line is they both teams with the exception of Matthews and Rodgers & Wright had everyone going yesterday (obviously Matthews being the bigger loss). Injuries are a good excuse for the 8-7-1 record, but not for yesterday's loss.

Going to be another tough game Sunday for SF. While Carolina did beat them, they didn't have Crabtree and Davis went out early with a concussion. This is a completely different offense with those two healthy as evidenced by their 7 straight wins. People will often look at Kaep's throwing stats, but forget about those legs of his. It was also Aldon Smith's first game back after missing 5 weeks. Feel a bit better about Carolina than GB in that weather.

I'm not just talking holding, also illegal contact, pass interference, etc. It's a philosohpy of defense that they play and its well known. Pay close attention next week.

I guess then we can look at all the games the defense won over the years, when Cutler and the offense did everything to lose. Everyone keeps talking about this great Bears offense, but didn't they win more game with Lovie and his D?
