  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:26 PM)
    I never claimed it to be an injustice, I simply stated that Crede is having the superior season.

    I don't think Crede is having a superior season. Lowell's OPS is 90 points higher. That is a fairly significant difference. It surely makes up for any advantage Crede has over Lowell defensively.

  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:07 PM)
    His numbers aren't that much better than Crede's to make up for the fact that Crede probably plays the best defense at 3B in the AL and possibly 2nd behind Rolen for all of baseball.

    Defense should mean something when it comes to this.

    I know that the awarding of Gold Gloves is a flawed process. My point in bringing it up in Lowell's case is to show that he isn't an ass-clown in the field. While the best fielder at each position isn't always awarded a gold glove, the winner is usually a very good fielder. Every year there are injustices regarding all-star snubs. I don't think Lowell getting voted in over Crede, given thier respective performances thus far, would be one of these annual injustices. If Crede hits .400 with 10 home runs in June and Lowell is still voted in, my opinion would change.

    Haha, you act like Gold Gloves mean something. Do yourself a favor and ignore that little fact, GGs are completely useless. Unless of course you think Palmero deserved his and Hunter deserved his last year then more power to ya.

    Perhaps, but Lowell's numbers are still better than Crede's. Or do numbers not matter either?

  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:12 PM)
    Hafner, Konerko >>> Ortiz

    Iguchi >>> Loretta, Cano

    Crede, Gaus >>> Lowell

    Wells >>> Damon, Sheffield, Ramirez, Suzuki

    Dye >>> Damon, Sheffield, Ramirez, Suzuki

    All Sox players have to do is be in the top 3-4-5 as we near July and the votes will begin to even out. Early on in the voting fans tend to vote strickly for the players on their own team, once we get closer to the All-Star game the more deserving players tend to rise to the top.

    Sox players have already gotten a ton of votes Konerko, Iguchi and Crede are all 3rd at their positions and Uribe and Pierz are 5th. The real shame is Dye at 10, the guy is having an amazing year and still doesn't get any recognition.

    I agree with you mostly, except for Crede. Lowell is having a better offensive year AND he is a gold glove winner.

    Perhaps, but that wasn't the point. The point was destroying the kids confidence, and sending him down will do just that.

    With all due respect to Brian Anderson's confidence, we can't have an everyday player hit .160 for an entire year. I know Robin Ventura started his career going 0 for 50, or whatever it was, but the '06 White Sox have higher aspirations than the '89 White Sox.

    Moreover, I don't know enough about Anderson's mental fortitude to determine one way or another what effect sending him down to Triple-A will have.

    of course the problem is finding a guy from every team. thus Grudzelanek from KC is the most qualified player they've got. While deserving, Kazmir from Tampa takes another spot away from a pitcher, etc.

    I wouldn't say Kazmir is taking away another spot from a pitcher. He is more deserving than anyone, except for perhaps Contreras, Verlander, and Mussina. Loaiza took another pitchers spot in 2004.

    Thome's gonna need write-ins to get on, he's not on the ballot due to the game being played in a national league ballpark and the DH not being a option on the roster.

    Someone made the decision to put Paulie on the ballot instead of Jim, tough call if you ask me.

    I think Guillen could still pick Thome as a reserve, even though there is no DH. Every all-star game 2-3 people pinch hit and nothing more.
