  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 11:07 AM)
    Are Sox fans more likely to see the glass as half empty? Reading fan sites for teams behind us and seeing how some feel better about the Sox than Sox fans, has me wondering. Let's use this to talk about fans, not the team.

    I think that Sox fans are conditioned to expect the White Sox to play poorly from August on. Not even taking 2005 into consideration, the 2004 and 2003 teams were neck-and-neck with Minnesota around August 1, only to play lethargically for the remaining two months. The pennant races during those two years still remain etched in my mind when I talk about this years team.

    Even worse, you could have a battery of Javy Lopez and Javy Lopez. MLB should reject the trade for that reason alone.

    I thought they sent the other Javy Lopez down.

  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:00 AM)
    That's really not true at all. As of late, he's definitely struggling and he's let a lot of inhertied runners to score, that you're correct about. On the whole though, he's done a pretty damn good job of stranding inherited runners.

    I meant simply in terms of his allowing inherited runners to score.

  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 10:47 PM)
    As if Vazquez doesn't have problems enough keeping his ERA down, Cotts didn't help that cause today.

    Bad pitching all the way around, some bad luck in the 9th didn't help either. Everything went right for Gibbons today, he fisted his base hit in the 9th. Conine I give credit to, great veteran at bat but bad pitch location and selection by the White Sox.

    Cotts is turning into this years Damaso Marte. He allows all or most of his inherited runners to score and then strands his own runners, thus deceptively lowering his ERA.

  5. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 11:19 AM)
    Seriously, maybe this is just all part of God's plan. Just even MAKING the playoffs at this point will be considered a victory, and isn't that just where you want everybody's head at?

    GO SOX!

    If this is all part of God's plan, does He deserve the blame for that hanging slider Vasquez threw to Monroe?

  6. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 03:28 PM)
    You might want to edit this quote. Read it slowly and you'll see why.... :D

    This guy in my biology class, said that if Ferris dies, he's giving his eyes to Stevie Wonder. Oh he's such a sweetie

  7. QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:10 PM)
    Fathom, negative will lead to NOTHING! Suck it up the bad times, and let's hope for the good times that will soon arrive.

    Pal, being positive will lead to nothing. We're fans. Our attitude has no bearing on the outcome of games.

  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:23 PM)
    I just wish Thome would destroy the clubhouse. He deserves better than this.

    He's been around long enough and has performed well enough to kick some ass.

    We're wasting a helluva season by Jim. He needs to kick some ass while we're still

    even in the wild card race and not 5 back.

    Instead of breaking things that don't belong to him I'd prefer he go back to hitting homers when men are on base.

  9. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:57 PM)
    I believe this marks the fourth straight game in which the Sox have failed to have a hit with runners in scoring position.

    Can anyone confirm or deny?

    Friday was the last game the Sox got an RBI hit that wasn't a homerun.

  10. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:53 PM)
    Would you have said that before the Boston series I think not.....our team showed a lot of hunger before this slump......Remember all the times this team just didnt give up.....so calm down it will pass

    I suppose some people are able to convince themselves of anything. When you pull your head out of the sand in September don't be suprised to see the Sox 5-10 games back in the wild card.

  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:23 PM)
    Brian Anderson since June 11:

    26 G | 84 AB | 25 H | 9 2B | 2 HR | 11 RBI | .298 BA | .341 OBP | .476 SLG% | .817 OPS

    Anyone who thinks Brian Anderson is hurting this team is VERY mistaken, he's a big reason why this team has won any games over the past month and a half.

    While Anderson has pleasantly surprised me over the last month and he certaintly hasn't hurt the team, to say he is a big reason they've won any games is a gross overstatement.

  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 10:02 PM)
    I'm leaving Soxtalk until things improve around here. It's too damn negative. The overall discussions withint this website have greatly dominished. In my world, everything will turn out for the better. If you believe otherwise, you're not a real fan!

    :lol:

    In your World is Elvis still alive and was the moonlanding staged?

  13. The most frustrating thing of all this year is that the same thing that will lead to our downfall (starting pitching) was the main reason we won the World Series last year. We can't motherf*** these guys all day and all night, even though we'd like to, because they won us a title last year. I prefer my penant run collapses come with goats who I can freely criticize, like our s***ty offense in the 3 game Minnesota sweep in September 2003.

  14. QUOTE(gosox41 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 09:44 PM)
    I know someone who used to be his daughter's special ed teacher back in the late '90's. When it came time for conferences, Jay told the teacher he couldn't make it because he didn't want to become a distraction.

    Bob

    He would only agree to meet with the teacher away from the cameras, so it wouldn't turn into a "circus".
