  1. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:29 PM)
    I don't think he's the idiot. Thomas got off to a slow start, and was injured for some time. We'd be out of it, if Thome didn't do what he did in April and May

    In the last two months, Thomas has done what Thome did in April and May. They would have balanced out.

  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 06:08 PM)
    At least now I don't have to really worry about this team any more, and can spend more time watching football and paying attention to NBA Training Camp. And I just bought a car! Whoopee, I'm free from paying attention to the White Sox for the year!

    I agree. I should be upset, but I feel liberated.

  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 05:52 PM)
    Honestly...I think we'd have an even worse record with Frank on this team instead of Thome. We'd have a few more hits right now, but Thome carried us for the first 2 months of the season.

    Thomas has carried Oakland for 3 months. Without Dye and Konerko in his line-up.

  4. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 10:52 AM)
    Real classy line about Frank Thomas in that article too..

    Everytime Ozzie talks nowadays it makes me ashamed to be a Sox fan.

    Ozzie is what he is....and that is an ignorant loud mouth. Do we really expect anything more from him at this point?

  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 10:34 AM)
    IT'S NOT THE OFFENSE, PEOPLE!

    :chair

    In the second half, the offense is 8th in the AL in runs scored. So, yes, it is partly the offense.

    QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 10:39 AM)
    Genius, lets blame the second best offense in baseball!

    Well, we can at least blame their inconsistancy.

  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 11:38 AM)
    Can't remember the last time I liked the pitching match-up going into Oakland.

    Dont expect help from anyone else. Win these games, at worst we will stay were we are at right now, and take care of the Tigers and Twins when those games come.

    Just win.

    No kidding. Did you see the dogs that Cleveland and Baltimore are throwing out there on the mound tonight? Wow.

  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 10:31 PM)
    What's your opinion of him saying he wouldn't have thrown out the first pitch of the ALDS if he knew he wouldn't be brought back, and that he wouldn't have celebrated with the team as much? Those are the only comments he's ever made which really pissed me off.

    fathom, I agree. This was the only thing Frank has ever said that bothered me.

  8. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:39 AM)
    Obviously it doesnt look good. But you claim its a bad thing to have faith in your team.

    I am upset as anyone tonight, I even said the season is over after tonight, but there is nothing wrong with a fan having faith in his team.

    With this team, this year, any faith would be blind faith. I have blind faith in nothing.

  9. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:28 PM)
    His beefs with other players is well documented. He had more than one front page pissing match with managers and the front office. Suffice it to say, I was not a big fan of him off the field. On the field, the only criticism I have was that I thought we was too quick to take walks with runners in scoring position. There isn't much else to criticize obviously. I thought the guy was a whiney, me first jerk who was one hell of a tough out. Good for him and his success. But I will take Jim Thome in my clubhouse over Frank Thomas any day of the week.

    If they're so well documented why don't you rehash them? Because they're a figment of your shallow imagination.

  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 08:53 PM)
    Thanks for the most disturbing imagery ever produced at this site.

    Berman tuggin' one out to Hafner.....

    :unsure: :o :ph34r: :crying

    :lol:

    That line barely scratches the depths of my mental disturbance.

  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 08:12 PM)
    What the hell are you talking about?

    You said

    In response to Frank's bad start to the season.

    Doesn't it make perfect sense to llok at April numbers when you say "Oakland's players never got it going in the first place" and when talking about Frank's down month? (WHICH WAS APRIL)

    :huh

    What's in the water you're drinking?

    I'm also still laughing at Frank the Tank still claiming Thome has been "unclutch" this second half despite an OPS well into the 900's with RISP

    I don't know who's more annoying. The blind Frank extremists, or the Sox fans who used to bash him when he was on the team.

    You should really adjust your poor attitude. I love it when a guy on the internet takes a condescending tone with people he would be deferrential to in person.

  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 05:52 PM)
    You are the one spinning things by putting everything in RBI's

    Here are some August OBP% for you:

    Pods: .284

    Iguchi: .310

    Thome: .453

    Konerko: .383

    Dye: .390

    Crede: .351

    AJ: .265 (!)

    Uribe: .261

    Anderson: .367/Mack .310

    !!!!!!!!!!!!

    In big letters for you since you obviously won't set your bias aside:

    HOW THE f*** IS THOME SUPPOSE TO GET AN RBI IF NOBODY IS ON BASE????

    The only answer is to try and hit nothing but solo home runs, something Hangar has tried to put on him

    How many Sox games have you been watching lately?

    You mean Thome shouldn't try and hit that 3-0 curve ball way outside to drive the runner in?

    Why oh why must Thome scare opposing pitchers into throwing him unhittable pitches?

    Well, as I've said, one is leading his team to the playoffs and the other is leading his team to a third place finish.

  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 05:05 PM)
    Hey Hangar! Month by month comparison of Thomas and Thome since you think Thome was only good for one month

    .300/.457/.713 vs. .190/.264/.405 HUGE edge to Thome (.501 diff in OPS)

    .290/.410/.620 vs. .268/.436/.535 Edge to Thome (.059 diff in OPS)

    .264/.371/.514 vs. .270/.357/.703 Edge to Frank (.175 Diff in OPS)

    .299/.384/.621 vs. .276/.413/.540 Edge to Thome (Higher BA to go along with a much higher SLG%)

    .329/.453/.586 vs. .333/.443/.516 Edge to Thome (.080 diff in OPS)

    .258/.410/.581 vs. .395/.439/.947 HUGE edge to Frank (.395 OPS, Ofcourse we're only one week into september whereas Thome greatly outproduced Frank for an entire MONTH)

    Thome has given this team nothing in the second half. Spin it any way you like, santo=dorf, but Sloth hasn't been a run producer lately.
