  1. I don't think I've ever seen anyone meltdown this bad on SoxTalk before
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) That can't be right. Unions don't have any power or control. Unions don't have the power and control over a company that a CEO/owner has. You know this and you are being intentionally dishonest again because you are desperate to push your agenda.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) Yep, that's it. It is totally about the micro of that one post, and not the macro of the theme that everyone who doesn't buy into is a racist of some sort. It isn't the years and years of this crap that you have been posting... it is totally that I don't think those 4 posts from no one of any substance at all are racist. Well at least you finally came out and said they're racist, because for a while there you were making a bunch of bad arguments that would imply that they weren't actually racist, like comparing them to non-racist things.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) SS, how does this fit into the ceo/union argument from yesterday? https://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/are-un...ren_654203.html Seems to me a union telling someone how to vote, or whether to attend a rally, with the threat of a fine, is pretty s***ty. https://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/are-un...ren_654203.html It is incredibly s***ty and probably illegal.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) Keep calling everyone who doesnt agree with you a racist? I'm starting to worry that you don't actually think those statements are racist. Otherwise this post and the other two calling things racist that are clearly not racist make no sense.
  6. I don't know what we'd do without your meltdown over an image of some people saying some dumb things. I have a "desperate agenda" to post some lulz about some dumb racists.
  7. to be fair, manufacturing firearms and ammunition isn't quite as simple as growing plants and processing them into alcohol or drugs. we heavily restrict sale and manufacture of automatic weapons in this country, and therefore they just aren't used that much in crimes. but doing it on a city-level makes no sense, it'd have to be national, like the automatic weapons restrictions.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) HE'S A WITCH, BURN HIM! Who is a witch? What are you talking about? Man, it's really weird that you would get so super-defensive over a img of a couple of morons on facebook saying racist things.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:13 PM) My own post about Jefferson from yesterday immediately above being a huge racist slave-owner who treated his slaves worse than is commonly portrayed? I want to link this again because it's a very interesting read! http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-arch...story=fullstory It's completely devoid of modern politics, it's strictly a historical review of Jefferson's evolving views on slavery, how he ran Monticello and how some of the true history was covered up or glossed over by a lot of early and mid-20th century historians.
  10. I don't think Harry Reid would appreciate that very much.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) LOOK OVER THERE ---> RACISTS! You do get that those statements I posted are actually racist, right? And that the ones you did aren't? What is my one-off post even supposed to be a distraction from? My own post about Jefferson from yesterday immediately above being a huge racist slave-owner who treated his slaves worse than is commonly portrayed?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) On the bright side, I now have proof that all Democrats are racist against Mormons. http://twitchy.com/2012/10/10/leavin-on-a-...if-romney-wins/ QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 12:42 PM) Not to mention the young people's suicide rate is about to explode, because they are racists either way... http://twitchy.com/2012/10/10/disturbing-y...romney-elected/ Can you explain how either of these posts are supposed to be mocking the 'theme' of pointing out one side saying dumb things? To me, it looks more like you're trying to attribute racism to things that are clearly not racist in mockery, which would mean you're mocking the idea of calling those original statements racist.
  13. Outrage? It looks more like you're making some weak flails and trying to compare saying something dumb about moving to blatant racism. That's pretty sad.
  14. Wait are you really trying to say there's some other meaning behind "it's called the white house for a reason" Please tell me you're not really trying to say that, that you don't really see any sort of equivalency there.
  15. Man you guys sure are defensive about a post of some racists saying dumb racist things. But I don't see anything anti-Mormon in there whereas those other people were explicitly calling obama a n*****? I mean saying you're moving to Canada if Romney wins is pretty dumb, but what's anti-mormon or racist about that? Do you really think it's comparable to straight-up calling Obama a n***** unfit for the WHITE house?
  16. http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/weo/2012/02/pdf/c1.pdf what that graph is showing is the forecasted slowdown underestimate versus the amount of austerity for a give country. The more austerity was enacted, the more the predictions underestimated the impact on productivity.
  17. Sometimes I wish we had a Parliamentary system instead so that we could get epic burn speeches like this, where the Australian PM goes off on the sexist, misogynistic opposition leader for a good 15 minutes.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) But most of the the time the moderator is basically ignored and for sure the questions are normally ignored. The first debate was like that. Lehrer should have started cutting their mics. Or, alternatively, not asked dumb questions like "what are your differences on government?"
  19. I was really surprised to learn that physical child abuse administered by school officials is actually still legal in a good number of states! https://www.google.com/search?q=texas+girl+...me&ie=UTF-8
  20. There is no greater influence than having attended a wedding 21 years ago for two people who divorced 15 years ago. But it's always nice to see the Tucker Carlson Vanity Project continue to embarrass itself.
  21. Joel Klein's Misleading Autobiography What the former chancellor of New York City schools' sleight of hand tells us about education reform
  22. I posted a thing to laugh at dumb racists
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) OK, now that I saw this: The number makes much more sense. I agree. If they were negative before, the net change was in fact more than 63k. SS2K5 was right - I didn't see that phrase before. That's what I had been looking for, what it had been previously. I must have missed it earlier. That phrase isn't actually in the article he linked, but it is in this AP story: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...oryId=162353277
  24. Oh ok. Strange that you and jenks got so defensive about it!
  25. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 11, 2012 -> 08:08 AM) Because it's another bulls*** argument from reality disconnected anti-gun crowd. I'm sure some guns are stolen during home break-ins, etc...but there is no mass targeted gun theft conspiracy. Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws int he nation, and probably the highest gun related crime. As Tuna said above, you aren't getting rid of guns by banning them, just like they didn't get rid of Alcohol by banning it, or drugs for that matter. But, let's stick our heads in the sand and ignore that, after all, repeating past mistakes over and over again at the expense of the taxpayer is what we do. So long as we fool them into think they're safer, even if they aren't, is all that matters. Look, the only way to "ban" guns, is to un-invent them and then, somehow, ban their invention from that point forward. In other words, not happening. I've said this before, and I'll say it again -- (hopefully someone reads it this time, and actually takes a moment to contemplate it) -- banning guns, much like banning drugs, will do nothing but create a violent, highly profitable and dangerous underground black market. The same cartels that deal in drugs would just add guns to their list of goods. I thought the bolded was wrong so I googled it and found this: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sh...rocon/guns.html
