  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:33 PM)
    Great deal by Kenny, Richard decided to pitch well at the right time again for us. I cant say im all that sorry to see Poreda go. Glad we kept Hudson as well.

    KW should be exec of the year for getting Peavy AND keeping Flowers and Hudson.

    Amazing.

    Also, I wonder why Peavy decided to approve it this time (without any "incentives")?

    Heyman's twitter:

    SI_JonHeymanaggressive #brewers look like threat for halladay. hearing manny parra's name. but wouldnt escobar/ gamel have to go too?

    Who the hell is Manny Parra? Are we talking about the nearly 27-year old "up and comer" with a history of arm injuries who has never had an ERA below 4.30 at the major league level? The same guy who's was so effective earlier this year that he got dispatched to Nashville?

    Can someone tell me how he is better/evaluated more positively than Richard? All I know is that we wouldn't be generating any buzz if we were building a package around Clayton.

    That's what this is akin to...

  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 02:41 PM)
    He had a 6.04 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 6 June starts which he averaged less than 5 inning per outing, and his first start of July this afternoon was more of the same. His season ERA is now up to 4.75 and his WHIP over 1 and a half. We have a better, young pitcher who needs experience rotting in the bullpen not getting any burn in Aaron Poreda. It's pretty clear that Poreda and Richard's roles should be reversed and has been for a couple weeks now. I understand this team is playing well, but we can't let Clayton Richard continue to bring down our rotation because he had 3 good starts against non playoff teams in May, especially now that we're actually in the race.

    Don't know if you watched the game today, but Richard:

    a) was touching 97, with velocity consistently between 92-94

    B) had a great change-up

    c) was very unlucky. the royals only had two balls hit hard against him

    In terms of stuff, he has a better arm than MB or JD, and he's a lefty to boot. You have to give him a chance to get his stuff together. He's very close to breaking through.

  4. Good post.

    Lopez and Sanchez are essentially the same player. However, Lopez is cheap, and wouldn't cost us anything beyond this year.

    I'd like us to stay far away from Sanchez. Career OBP of .338, on the wrong side of 30, and has a very expensive option that automatically vests. No thanks.

    Apparently the rumor mill is burning hot with info that the Sox may be searching for a CF'er to trade for and that Aaron Rowand may be a target for KW. If the Giants are seruious contenders in the NL West would they actually consider this deal? Would the Sox take on a big contract? Interesting speculation anyway. Discuss amongst yourselves.

    Typical.

    We cry poor, and say we can't afford to add anyone decent into the CF mix.

    Next, we go after one of the most overpaid guys in the game because he used to play for us.

    I'm not even going to look at who started this thread.

    Feel free to DIAF along with Joe Crede after his first standing ovation at-bat for Minn for suggesting this. :P

    We're on page 8, so I would say that people have opinions on this topic. Isn't that the point of a message board?

    Is there an approved list of topics we can talk about?

    I think there are several points to this thread:

    a) People are pissed about the CF situation (deservedly so)

    B) Many potential acquisitions exist that would at least temporarily solve the problem (including Dukes)

    CF has been a problem for this team FOR YEARS. KW's insistence that we "can't afford" a CF, either financially or in the players it would take to acquire such a player, is complete bulls***.

    The truth is, they have been counting on Ownes to take over the job for years, and cannot publically admit that their player evaluation skills were abysmal in this case.

  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:38 PM)
    That's a bad point. It's not Dukes' fault his father is a POS. It is Dukes fault that he has pretty much followed in his father's footsteps though.

    It doesn't really matter how many kids Dukes has, either. If that were some kind of real standard for decency, the NBA wouldn't exist.
