Outside of Jose, all of our starting pitchers look as if they have arm problems.
If so, I'm not going to get mad at them. They gave us their all last year, and I'll never forget it.

Not only would Burke make a great bench player in 2006, but he may be the leadoff hitter/ LFer of 2007, after Pods departs.
-
Watching Jon pitch makes me physically sick.
That no-trade clause is looking like an awful decision right now, although we couldn't get much for him at this point anyway.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:30 AM)Okay, based on what? He still throws hard, just nowhere near the strike zone.
Ollie still has above-average velocity for a lefty, but now he works in the 88-91 range. In 2004, when he dominated, he worked in the 93-96 range. Given his relative youth, many in Pittsburgh have come to the conclusion that his significant loss in velocity can either be attributed to:
a) an injury that he's been hiding for a year and a half, or
B) his inability to take steroids since the beginning of the 2005 season
Most Pirate fans feel that "b" is more likely.

QUOTE(Dawgs @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:32 PM)You are the same guy that said Ill wait to see how they are doing in June, arent ya? They arent going away Sox fans. In fact they look to be picking up the pace.
No, I'm not. I would never be stupid enough to use June as a barometer.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:29 PM)I don't get the comparison.
I was trying to say that it's early yet, and I'm shocked that everybody is scoreboard watching in June.
Does everyone think the Rangers will win the AL West? I don't, but they're in 1st place as we speak.
I'll try to make a better comparison: Last year, the Nationals were in 1st place at the AS break, and they had a fantastic record in 1-run games. They didn't last, and neither will Detroit.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:27 PM)And a very good team.
So are the Rangers.
Like I said, we'll see.

I'll worry about the Tigers when they are leading the AL Central deep into August.
Until then, they're a cute story.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 01:28 PM)If that's the "MLIVE" Tigers board, I wouldn't put any stock in it. It's mostly just 10 year olds. For a really good time, check out the MSU and UM basketball and football boards during the season.
It's a pissing content Ozzie and Jay would be jealous of.
Yeah, and I'm so excited that we now have some of those fine M-Live posters coming over here. I'm a U-M alum, so trust me when I say that the "M-Livers" will only add to the obnoxiousness level of this site.
-
So, where have all you boisterous Tiger fans been the past 20 years?
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:21 PM)No need to worry. We'll be where we are supposed to be at the end of the year.
You're my nominee for POTFY (Post of the f***in' Year).
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:42 PM)Done.So I take it that you're suggesting that we should be very worried...

Beautiful job Mack....
And just when I was about to openly pine for the return of Marte.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 03:27 PM)What's with the enormous cow picture?
Why not?
Unless someone feels like making me a sig meshing bovines and White Sox, it will have to do.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 03:24 PM)If you're not going to run, what's the purpose of taking Thome out of a tie game?
Exactly.
I like the way you think, sir.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 03:12 PM)what does 'huckin' mean?
That commercial makes me think 'big f***in chicken'.
That's the idea...It's a clever way of getting around the censors.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 08:25 PM)Garcia's stuff is getting much better as the game goes on.
That's ALWAYS the case. Maybe FG needs to start throwing in the pen 2 hours before the game.
-
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 08:10 PM)Flash: what exactly are you trying to say? We don't scout the latin countries well? I think that's fair. But if you're saying that guys like Liriano and Reyes are a dime a dozen, and we should have a few, you're kidding yourself.
Reyes isn't from a Latin country...He's from USC.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 08:04 PM)GMAFB
Sarcasm is your friend...

Oh my God...Do I dare say it????
Could this be the return of CORPSEBALL???????????
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 07:31 PM)Funny how he was throwing mid 90's in Seattle.
That's what happens when you're a young pitcher and your manager is Lou Pinella...Sweet Lou blew out young arms for years. Freddy's lucky that he's still able to pitch at all.
-
From a Cards perspective, there's a lot of pressure on the rookie Reyes tonight...The bullpen is blown. Would TLR leave a rookie out there to "take one for the team"?
-
I luuuuv it when the Cards start Timo at DH...
Snicker.

This is the one game where I wish Frank was around. He was always good for a homer off of Mussina.
