Lol, whelp: K.C. JohnsonVerified account @KCJHoop Jimmy Butler is at the Advocate Center, the Bulls' draft headquarters. So all of those rumors were BS basically.
-
Ramona Shelburne ESPN Senior Writer Word is Bulls were listening on Jimmy Butler, but not shopping him. Teams ALWAYS listen. Boston made the strongest push for him, but for now I'm told he stays.
-
Valentine was a safe pick. Don't hate it, don't love it. Now trade Mirotic or Taj and grab a PG.
-
That has to be the Bulls leaking a fake rumor to get better offers, right?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Rumors that Lakers are dangling the #2 pick to the Bulls for Butler. Also, Frank Isola tweeting that the Magic are going after Butler too. Russell and Ingram for Butler? Hell yes.
-
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/16453607...ue-kevin-durant That made me laugh. Yep, Durant will stop playing with the best PG in the game to go play with Rose. Sure. I hope Phil enjoys dealing with Reggie.

Classic case of a prosecutor being appointed because of political clout more than ability and then royally screwing up a case. Hmm, sounds familiar!

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) UT is in a tough situation. The Top 10% rule (any Texas student who graduates in the top 10% if their class can pick any Texas public university for guaranteed admission) really stifles any attempt at diversifying their classes. http://www.texasmonthly.com/burka-blog/the...-rule-on-trial/ Be that as it may, it's ridiculous that we continue to have a policy of "race cannot be a basis for making decisions ... unless you're white and then it's fine!" SCOTUS just keeps eroding the protections of the Constitution every time it makes exceptions to a pretty clear rule - no discrimination based on race and equal rights under the law. Justifying discrimination by saying diversity is a goal is just nonsense.

Sounds like the judge had a serious issue with the prosecution continually using the phrase "rough ride" without offering any evidence or explanation for what that meant or what specifically the driver did to make it a rough ride: http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2016/06/23/o...his-fate-today/

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) What were some of the facts against the driver? If he was driving the van, could he have done anything to contribute to this? I don't remember the specifics, but out of all the cops, he seemed to be the must culpable.
-
Wow, the driver is found not guilty on all six charges brought against him ("depraved-heart" murder, manslaughter, assault, misconduct in office, and reckless endangerment).
-
SCOTUS upholds discriminatory practice of Univ of Texas admissions. Race is ok to consider as a factor. Love the double standard of affirmative action.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) I'd just keep Robin Lopez. I know Dwight had a limited role on the offense last year in Houston, but I honestly don't think he's the same guy. Yeah but how much of that is because Harden wouldn't pass him the ball? I actually think he makes sense for the Bulls if it's not a max contract and if Dwight agrees that he's only getting 10-12 shots a game (and he's happy with that). His focus will be rebounding, defense and passing the ball out to shooters. The problem is he's a walking bag of drama. Not sure I want to watch that unfold over the course of several seasons.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) I think you have to include Niko on that list. Agreed. I'd dangle Taj or Niko and the 14th for a high pick to get Dunn.
-
Anyone think the Bulls go after Howard?
-
So, House Democrats stage a sit in. Are they in 3rd grade? Oh, and they're obstructionists right? Liberals out there must hate that, right?
-
Lol, Rosemont is not the west or south side. Jesus dude.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 10:01 PM) Tim Floyd hired from Iowa State to be Bulls coach in 1998 after the Bulls title run. Phil left causing MJ to retire, Bulls trade Pippen, don't sign Rodman. What happens? 1998 - lockout year the Bulls go 13-37. The low point of the season came on April 10 in a game against the Miami Heat. In that game, the Bulls scored 49 points to set an NBA record for the fewest points in a game in the shot clock era. 1999 - Bulls draft Elton Brand and go 17-65. That summer the Bulls don't get Tim Duncan, Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Eddie Jones, or Tim Thomas. They do get E-Rob and Brad Miller though. Haha. They draft Marcus Fizer and Jamal Crawford 2000 - they finish at a then all-time worst of 15-67. Krause shocked the world and traded Brand for the 2nd pick to start the Chandler/Curry era. Floyd was fired . . . 2001 - Bulls finish 21-61 tied for last in the league. This feels like deja vu all over. Another Bulls regime ruins a nice string of playoff runs by firing one of the leagues best coaches and replacing him with a s***ty coach from Iowa State. 2015/2016 - they finish 40-42 and miss the playoffs. D Rose is traded for s*** when letting walk would be more valuable and they likely will trade Butler next. 2016-2017 - they will be a laughing stock and bound for a top 3 pick if we are lucky. They will fire Floyd er I mean Hoiberg either this summer or the following year when they realize he is s*** and are tired of answering questions about him. 2017-2018 - they will be s*** again The only difference is this time I have less confidence in their ability to turn it around so I think the pain could be here for some time. So in two years we get rid of a great coach who made the playoffs every year, trade Deng for nothing, sign Gasol and lose him for nothing, lose Noah for nothing, trade Rose for pretty much nothing and send a 2nd Rd pick in the deal, and possibly will trade Jimmy below value next. Potential starting lineup: - PG - Calderon/Grant - SG - Dunleavy (possibly starting at 36 years old) - SF - Jimmy (or worse -possible they clear Jimmy to start McBuckets) PF - Nikola - C - Lopez Yeah that's not a rebuild. For sure a retool. We could have a starting backcourt that's 35 and 36 years old. What's more... Bulls have no shot at a top free agent especially in today's exploding cap environment. That's what makes me have even less hope during this rebuild especially when management is calling it a retool and not a rebuild. They are sending picks out instead of compiling picks. For what? I'm gonna pull my hair out. Unless Conley or Rondo are willing to sign a 1yr for close to $16M when they can get max money elsewhere we should be in full rebuild mode not retool mode. The only thing that should be retooled is the management/coaching staff. I hate you, GarPax. So much. This seems very premature without knowing what they get in the draft/free agency. And I'm not sure why you don't think they'll be successful in free agency. They have 23-24 million to play with. And none of the true superstars are leaving their respective teams anyway. Thus far, just about all the pundits/experts think the Bulls did a great job. They cleared the Butler/Rose log jam and they actually got decent pieces for Rose. The more I read, the more I think the Bulls did really, really well. That's not to say you aren't right, that their ceiling hasn't changed. But i'm fine giving Butler the keys. I want to see what he can do as the focal point. He showed great flashes last year. Can he do that consistently is the question.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) All of those events except maybe killing his brother happen during the course of the books. Really? Well maybe my memory is all wrong. You guys know the books better than me probably. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) Off the top of my head: Theon, obviously Rape/torment of Jeyne Poole Flaying of the spearwives Hunting games with women He most likely poisoned his brother growing up He was the one who killed the "Stark" boys Lady Hornwood murder Right, most of those things occurring well in the past with characters we don't know. So in terms of a villain to some specific main character or house, there's really only Theon, a character "we," the audience, also hate for what he did, even if he is being redeemed over time. Ramsay is no worse than the Mountain or the Hound. He is less a villain in the books IMO than Joffrey or Cersei or even Tywin. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) Serious question: If on a hot Friday or Saturday night I decided to walk the streets of Rosemont from 10 pm until 5 am. what are the odds I would be shot and killed? Probably 90 percent? The murders in Chicago must stop. Rosemont? No. Certain areas of the south and west sides? Yes.
-
Agreed. Reading on twitter it sounds like Gar also made mention that they're going to sit down with Noah and that Calderon is tight with Pau. Maybe Lopez is the backup if they can get one of those guys to resign?

Chris Herring @HerringWSJ 29m29 minutes ago If they go after Dwight and sign him, fans should line up w pitchforks. Chris Herring @HerringWSJ 24m24 minutes ago Lopez was fantastic fit w KP. 28 & healthy. Thrived as he learned the offense in 2nd half of season. Took burden off budding KP at the 5. Chris Herring @HerringWSJ 23m23 minutes ago Probably most important: His deal -- the one that uninformed fans thought was too expensive -- is incredibly affordable one week from now. Chris Herring @HerringWSJ 24m24 minutes ago You're not gonna find a FA center who plays the position as well as he does, and knows the offense, for the money he makes. Not anymore.

K.C. Johnson @KCJHoop 9m9 minutes ago Bulls knew they had to address Rose-Butler dynamic. They also knew Rose was walking in 17. Hmm, didn't know it was a foregone conclusion that Rose was going to walk after next year. If that was the case, at least Bulls got something for him.
-
I mean I think it's well known Butler is available for the right deal. I think the Bulls hold the cards there though. They don't have to do anything. Chad Ford had a tweet a bit ago that basically said every 1st round pick after 2 is for sale. Apparently this draft is going to be a s***ty one?
