What are you smoking?? His drafting since the rebuild has been awful. I count 2016 as the start because it was clear they were going to fall off the rails by June 1.
Collins(bad)
Burdi(injured)
Burger(injured)
Madrigal(meh)
More of the same shit, different year. They focus more on floor than ceiling and that is their problem. They will continue to draft poorly until they take a balanced approach to drafting and learn to take calculated risks.
Baseball players have to develop. We don’t know that Collins is bad, the other two were injured, and you are already calling Madrigal meh?
Things have to pan out on he draft picks. It probably won’t considering everything they touch turns to 💩 right now but everyone claiming to know his drafts are terrible since the rebuild do not possibly yet know that.

I don't think he deserves credit for coverting on the heavy surplus talent he couldn't do anything with. They're farm system still pretty much sucks other than guys they've acquired in those trades.
He won the Robert sweepstakes? His drafting since the rebuild seems promising but it’s early.
Im not defending him! 😂

You guys ain’t gonna sucker me into sticking up for Hahn 😂
im just saying, he’s been praised for a while now. After these two failures he has become the worst ever.

How much more awful can you get than never winning more than 78 games
Never winning more than 78 games and having a bad farm system.

Every one has praised Hahn for the past couple years for having such a stellar farm system. Not sure where that leaves me with his ineptitude. He’s bad but I don’t know if his awfulness is to the degree that it feels right now.

Someone should bring a nice table with one chair and put it in front of the stadium. Take a pic and share it.

You're right, I agreed to a 7 day ban bet and lost. Have your way with me Mods.
So you won the bet then? I’m confused because being banned after this off season is not necessarily bad.

I still believe that the Sox were in "stealth mode" and were still in on Harper, but they failed, so it doesn't matter.
The fact is that he signed for $25 million AAV and no opt-outs. I have defended the front office for years, but they have beaten the optimism out of me this offseason. They are now on a GarPax level of incompetence. I hope they lose fans, and I wish I weren't so committed or else they'd be losing me too.
If they thought they were still in this with a stealth sub 330 that would be even more pathetic.

oh totally.
We learned a lot for the next go around though:
- "stealth mode" is not a thing. maybe for trades, it isn't for free agents.
- jerry reinsdorfs ability as a businessman could not matter less
- how elite free agents value themselves matters, and if you aren't prepared to sign them at their value, plan your organization accordingly.
Jerry’s ability as a businessman is a detriment to putting the best team on the field. His business savvy is not conducive to the fan experience or the player of this generation. He’s a dinosaur.

Finally over though. We knew what this org was when they failed with Machado so this was expected. Hahn is going to wear this for a long time. I’m not sure he will even want to show himself to the public for a while. Wait until next year soxfest 😂 there won’t be a sell out but the people there aren’t going to be happy go lucky.

why? pederson > jay, palka, etc
Sure if you can get him for free. There just isn’t any motivation to sell off prospects for him. Even if it’s a low level guy because you don’t want to get burned on that one again. Like the player we will not name.

And I will continue to say maybe the Sox thought that and didn’t believe they were being outbid
Well Hahn did think there was a less than even chance that they would get Manny so they must’ve thought there was a chance they would be outbid.

A Latin American baseball player implies he's from LATIN AMERICA. Holy cow... are you just trolling me right now?
Manny Machado is as AMERICAN as Eric Hosmer. You don't refer to Eric Hosmer as European American, do you? Enough with the ignorant racial nonsense. Manny Machado is American.
You’re new here. You have fallen down a Caufield rabbit hole. Enjoy.

The goodness of the glass half full outlook doesn't equate to the badness of the glass half empty outlook. Not even close. We could've had a future hof'er at 3rd while keeping our best prospect at his natural position. We could've raised the ceiling of the rebuild. We could've changed the perception of the franchise. We could've gotten a star.
If you are trying to make me cry you are doing a great job!

I think there will be serious blowback, bad blood, and a general loss of interest, but I also think it will be spread over 2 seasons because I think their very public campaign for Machado likely sold a good number of season ticket packages and early single game seats.
Hmm I’m not sure what the consequences are going to be for the Sox. I would like to think that the fans will make their voice heard by not spending and not watching but I almost doubt that will decline when it was already in the bottom third of the league . Sox fans do support a winner though And I think we get a bad rap. People will say we don’t show up no matter what but that’s BS. I was there for the years we won. I was there for the black out game. It was fu*****electric.

just offer Harper an 8/175 deal with an optout after the 8th year. done deal!
They can give him five hundred million dollars in incentives too. That will seal it.

Yes I do. They have a ton of payroll space to use and they should be a destination.
Fair enough.
Why would It benefit Boras to not put them out there publicly again? I think someone addressed that before and it might have been you but I can’t remember what the reasoning was.

This is actually one reason why I'm led to believe that they are in fact in the discussion. If they weren't, they'd be used left and right.
So even if they weren’t close on an offer, like not in the same ball park, you think Boras would still likely use them publicly? I am seriously asking. Seems like he has enough teams actually involved.

The Sox are so far away from this Boras couldn’t even use the Sox as a negotiating tactic. Think about that.

I know no one wants to really believe it and won’t believe it until Harper actually signs elsewhere but seriously guys, the Sox are not in this. They aren’t laying in the weeds. They don’t have this grand master plan that they are perfectly timing. They aren’t in it. It sucks. They suck. Everyone is trying to tell us and we refuse to believe them. It’s all crazy talk at this point.

By July I will be all in on Bears news/talk. I will watch baseball games but they won’t necessarily be whitesox games. I will probably get more enjoyment of watching the teams I hate and rooting against them like the Cubs, if I am being honest. Pathetic I know.
