Is game day having trouble. What's taking so freaking long?

Nice job Kopech, see you again next weekend

they cheat at home. will be interesting to see if they cheat on the road. they have talent, but they are mocking and laughing at the league while still surely stealing signs.
Naive question here -
Can't the Sox just scramble up their signs? Do odd things like have the pitcher shake off a sign and have it really mean that's the pitch he will throw instead of the following sign, or swap fast ball and breaking ball signs for left handed hitters, or even have different signs depending on whether the hitter's friggin jersey number is odd or even...etc etc.?
Or would that potentially confuse the pitcher and endanger the catcher?

Most entertaining part of the game lol

So they will leave the best pitcher in The AL on the bench. Ok. At least he can't get hurt.

Is Tim slated to hit 5th next inning?
Believe so

Seems like my ASG tradition is to watch the game hoping the Sox reserve will get in during the last inning and get the game winner and MVP.
-
And the obligatory interview with the greatest baseball player who I guess ever was or will ever be.
Sorry, he's as advertised but I'm tired of the worship.

There are plenty of ways to score runs, hitting home runs is just the most efficient.
Ironically, its also the most efficient way for the pitcher to give up runs. I wonder if that could have any consequence in this age of high velocity, high pitch count 5 inning starts?
-
The reduction in home runs, specifically their "ranking", is stark. It warrants the questions of why and what it portends.
The "why": I believe injuries. The post about the sox being 4th in HR's had they had Eloy and Luis tells us all we need to know. Its not the dead ball or sticky stuff IMO because that affects all teams.
The "what it portends": We should be very encouraged. The run production without those two bats shows the multidimensionality of the offense. Just wait until the bats return.

*right now* he is a top three 3rd baseman. His ceiling, though, was numero uno. That doesn't mean he sucks, and it doesn't mean he won't ever maximize the potential. He may not be a franchise player *right now* but he's solid.

So who are they use they supposed to give the W to?? Cease? No, because once the score got tied after he left, he is no longer involved. Ruiz? I don't think so. Foster? No, because he got the save. Can't get both the Save and the Win. The system they have makes perfect sense, but you do not.
I'd give it to Cease. His effort earned the win more than anyone else's. I don't care when the final lead was attained. If that doesn't make sense I will just have to not make sense.

He was pitcher of record when Sox went ahead. End of story.
Liam can get a win for giving up the lead pitching one inning while a starter can leave after pitching a perfect four and not get the win.
It's the end of story but not the end of ridiculousness.

I think the winning and losing pitcher should just be determined by the judgment of the official scorekeeper. Ridiculous Liam gets the win for this.

I hope none of our pitchers throw in the ASG.
I foresee a time when the biggest stars generally don't play in it once they get to play in it the first time. Just too much risk with nothing riding in the game.

It‘s by design. You don’t lose 5-6mph off your fastball just like that.
Or injury.
I'm guessing the former though.

How much of a ramp up will he need to throw 80-90 pitches with minimized risk in your opinion?? 3 games? 4 games?
How hard can it be to go from 10 pitches an outing to 100? /sarc
-
Would it have been so hard to go with Cease for 6, Kopech for 2, and Liam to wrap it up and get us to the break without the heartburn?
-
And coincidentally Blake Rutherford came from the NYY as one of the high ceiling prospects in our rebuild and has been one of the few disappointments.
I think the reason for the success of the rebuild has been because a "gamble" that paid off, which was probably less of a gamble due to how well they have been at projecting green talent. At the beginning of the rebuild the Sox system was ranked a bit lower than a couple of the others because the trade-off for the high ceilings of their acquisitions was the fact they were so young that it was hard to predict which ones would fulfill it. Amazingly nearly all of them have so far, injuries notwithstanding.

When was the last time a team had three of its own pitchers in an all star game? Has it even happened before?

All of Eloys WAR comes from the bat. He is a DH. He needs to understand that if he wants a highly successful and financially lucrative career, he needs to DH.
I'm not savvy to newer sabermetrics but isn't WAR offense affected what position you play, i.e. a 2nd baseman who hits 40 HRs has a higher WAR than a left fielder who hits 40 HR's? That said, maybe LF and DH are comparable in that regard anyway...
-
Hot take: if the Sox use him *only* as a DH, the value he gives them won't equal the value they would get back by trading him to a team who feels he could do more.

This might be an obtuse question but how many times has he injured himself from poor fielding decisions?

Who would you dream of the White Sox adding in trade this week, and what would you be willing to give up in exchange?
