  1. On a different note, at Chicagosports.com, they have a poll on who is the best pitcher right now in Chi town. Vote for Jon or Buerhle fellas. The only Cub on the options is Zambrano.
  2. I do not know about that. I hope Ozzie looks at actual stats while picking the closer for a given game (eg look at Shingo's #s against LH hitters etc). If he goes by instinct, and we blow a few saves, I think the criticism is warranted. I personally am sick of the closer hype in baseball. One inning is one inning, it should not matter where in the game it is pitched. If my team was up 1 and I had the heart of the order coming up in the 8th, I would be pitching my closer in the 8th rather than the 9th. But that is me. One thing that did bother me from that article though was Ozzie saying that this year he is trying to win, implying he was not trying to win last year when he kept sticking with Botch.
  3. I, for one, am happy that Ozzie is going to go with matchups etc to decide who closes a given game. ======================== http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Closer du jour? It appears that, for now, Dustin Hermanson will get first call over Shingo Takatsu to be the closer, having saved all three of his chances, including Saturday's. "That's not fair to Shingo to say that," Guillen said. "His last outing, he was not throwing the way we thought he should be throwing and that's why we made the move [saturday]. We'll give Shingo the opportunity to come back, and when he throws the ball better, he will be there." Guillen said Hermanson, Takatsu and lefty Damaso Marte all would close games, depending on the situation. "I'm going with whoever is going to help us win games," he said. "I made a big mistake last year to stay with my closer (Billy Koch). This year I just need to win games. That's my job."
  4. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) timo was the man too
  5. Jon, Pods, Carl and Guch were awesome today Rest up fellas and go get them Royals next
  6. Good job walking Wilson....now plunk White on his ass Jon...please
  7. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Classless. Aw come on
  8. How about sending Pods and Guch here for a double steal? Just to rub it in to Young and his division-winning-Detroit-Tiggers?
  9. Higginson 1st pitch out I think the Tiggers have given up and would like to get out of here
  10. Focking Timo....take that you b****es DETROIT SUCKS DETROIT SUCKS DETROIT SUCKS What is the attendance today? I am not getting the game on TV...
  11. We should rest some players now and play our scrubs rest of the way....
  12. Paulie needs to take some time off on the rest day and get laid or something
  13. Let Garland go 8 innings (even if he is below 100 pitches pull him out at 8 to keep him fresh for the year) and send Botch in for the 9th. Even Botch cannot lose a 6 run lead can he?
  14. Crede coming back down to earth....not that I expected him to do what we he was doing before. Hopefully it does not last too long.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Rowand proved last year he could have a monster season, and he started off awful last year also. Rowand's been driving the ball better lately, so I'm not really concerned about him. Also, we don't have a CF if Rowand is on the bench. Pods is better suited in LF with his inability to read balls of the bat. Who cares if he did anything when we were out of it. Prove it when it matters.
  16. Rowand's ass should be on the bench if he does not pick it up soon Every year same story....no consistency at all
