Josh In my estimation, you have to leave you starter in there, because we basically did not have Mike Jackson to pitch today (after last night), and Koch cannot be counted. With two less men in the BP, considering we were getting hammered early, you have to worry about tomorrow and try and get the series win. The key in baseball is to realize how to give up a game you have no chance in and worry about tomorrow. If we had lifted garland in the 3rd or 4th, that would have meant Marte, Shingo, Adkins and Cotts would all have to pitch today (since Jackson is not available, Botch could be brought in but he would leave with no outs but 10 extra runs, and Politte saved yesterday so he should go tomorrow) That meant tomorrow, we would not really have a rested BP, and with the philly O we might need them tomorrow to win this series. Hence it is the correct move....the starter can pitch 100 pitches....let him do that....so what if he gives up more runs....think war, not battle
