The Astros are considering dealing Chris Burke to the White Sox
For who?

Decision made
QUOTE(max power @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) Why would we want him? Is he going to start for us? I give him a 1/5 chance if we get him. I agree. Why would we want him? With a 8-23 MLB career record and a 5.42 ERA doesn't really appeal to many people.

QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) Does STL have someone to take Rolen's place if he's dealt? Not as of yet but i heard they're interested in a Blalock for Rolen deal if the one with the Brewers doesn't happen. And just interested in Blalock in general.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) I wouldn't be stunned if Kenny could get a young impact player with a package surrounding Fields. Still, Crede is probably the guy whose on his way out. I think theres speculation on a Crede - Capuano deal only because of the Rolen - Capuano talks. But I don't see that happening at all.

Decision made
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) I think Crede will be on the Phillies within the next 48 hours. They don't have much to give to us though, as I can't see the Sox going after Burrell now. They do have a recent history of trading together, so I can see it happening.

Decision made
Who should and will it be? "MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports that Kenny Williams has made a decision about his third base logjam. Williams wouldn't say who's on the way out - Josh Fields or Joe Crede. It stands to reason it's Crede though. Perhaps Williams' decision is to trade Crede, no matter what. I can't see why it would ever get to the point of non-tendering him. Though the team's assistant GM recently spoke to Scott Boras about Crede, they discussed his back rehab and had no extension talks. The Phillies and Brewers both make sense for Crede." - MLB Trade Rumors http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnered=rss_cws

Andruw Jones
QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) Well, to be fair, that wasn't an expert who said that. It was Tim Dierkes from mlbtraderumors.com. An avid and knowledgeable fan, yes, but not an expert. Of course, who the hell is an expert anyways? Yes, but even if the statement came Roger Clemens I would say it's way out of line. Jones getting even 32 mil. for 2 yrs. with the season he had last year is a bit much. But Tim is awesome and I put my Hot Stove trust in him. lol

QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) extremely lame. Just offer him a normal contract you'd offer to a non-boras client. If Boras goes over board then just say see ya. Some experts are saying that the 32 mil he was offered from the Dogders is "a little light" and should be raised to 2 yrs. for 38 mil. This whole idea of him being paid that much is getting way out of hand.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) Dodgers have offered him a two year 16 million dollar contract... KW Better be all over this. I just read an article from David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that say the Sox are reluctant to offer Jones anything more then 10 mil. per year because they don't want to deal with Boras. http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-bl...id=blogs_braves

Sox are Miggy dark horse.
"Along with the Angels, the Dodgers, Giants and White Sox are believed to be the most active pursuers of Cabrera, with the Rangers, Indians and Mets also inquiring. The Angels have been seen as the frontrunner for Cabrera since they have a good fit with Florida, which seeks a top young hitter, a catcher, a center fielder and pitching in return. The Angels also have a surplus of outfielders after signing Torii Hunter to a five-year, $90-million free agent contract." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/base...rera/index.html

08' Lineup
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) What a load of crap. What exactly has shown you that Crede can show he is getting back into old form. Have you visited him in Missouri and checked out his work in the back cage. Are you hitting ground balls to him to see his movement. At this point no one knows how exactly Crede is going to come back or hold up over the marathon of a long season. BTW outside of Chicago most people think that Crede is a nice fielder who cant hit. His low OBP scares a lot of teams away from his "talent". Kemp is a top notch prospect. The price for top notch prospects is not a 3rd baseman in his walk year who Boras represents coming off an injury + crap. Now you need to quit misquoting me. I said IF Crede CAN come back from his MAJOR BACK SURGERY. IF. I am acknowledging the fact that he may never be the same.

08' Lineup
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) No you haven't. We could give them Crede AND Gio/DLS, and they wouldn't do that. Yes, I really have. The Dodgers are seeking a third baseman. The Sox are looking for a left-fielder. If they don't trade Kemp for M Cab and Crede is showing that he can get back to old form, the Dodgers will look into that. And I said Crede straight up. Crede and a mid-level prospect. Not Gio or DLS.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) Crede for Matt Kemp straight up? Where the f*** do I sign up? I've heard a Crede for Kemp might happen if the Dodgers don't get M Cab.

08' Lineup
What do you guys think of a Konerko for Willits and Kendrick with a possibility of Ervin Santana to the Angels? Or Crede for a Matt Kemp? Another possibility might be a Crede and prospect for a #2 starter. What do you guys think?

Question: What happened to the Cuban SS?
No he won't be a free agent until he establishes residency in the Dominican Republic. sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3029743 And he also has the same agent as Jose Contreras.

Question: What happened to the Cuban SS?
QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 12:06 AM) If he is in the Dominican already is there a reason that he hasn't had much noise out here? Is he allowed to start negotiations and what not, or are teams waiting to see how he performs there? I know for a fact the Indians are interested and that for some reason he won't be a free agent for a little while?

Question: What happened to the Cuban SS?
My bad on that. Sorry I was confused.

Question: What happened to the Cuban SS?
QUOTE(Chombi @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) I am curious as to what happened to the Cuban SS who was supposedly defecting to the Dominican so he could play baseball here. Alexi Ramirez is his name I believe. I remember watching him in the WBC once they announced he was coming here and described which guy it was. He was like 25. I could probably look it up but my satelite is going so slow with this weather. Anyways, just a random thought as to what happened to him because I have heard 0. I thought we'd be players for him before the Cabrera deal. Anyone got anything on him??? The Indians are looking at him. He's going to be a free agent soon. He's pretty versatile as well. He can play the middle infield and the outfield. Oh and he's from the Dominican Republic not Cuba.

Chris Capuano
QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) i love capuano....i think 07 was the outlier....id take him for crede in a second, but im sure wed have to offer more...or at least i would think so From my personal stand point I wouldn't think we would have to offer more then just Crede because the apparent offer from the Brewers was Capuano and Mench for Rolen. Rolen is aging and defensively in the same neighborhood as Crede. So I think Crede for Capuano would probally be accepted. But knowing Kenny Williams this would never happen

Erik Bedard
I like the Brian Roberts idea. But I still think we should keep Richar. I think he will be great.

Erik Bedard
QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) With all the chatter about the big boppers and Johan Santana getting all the trade attention, do you think Erik Bedard is Kenny's real target for a trade? Supposedly the Orioles are looking to trade Tejada and Bedard so why not? KW's been after him for years and we all know he is the real deal. What would it take? I personally would give up Danks, Fields, Broadway and Uribe (and Sweeney or Anderson too if they want one of them). I think Bedard is an absolute stud and would be worth it, even if we only had him for two seasons. With how good he is I don't think that he would be worth as much as you listed. I would say Danks, Uribe, and Broadway or Egbert. But not Fields too.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Don't ask me how, and this would never happen, but... LINEUP: 1. Fukodome, CF (FA signing) 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Bay, LF 6. Dye, RF 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Fields, 3B 9. Richar, 2B BENCH: UTL, Bourgeois INF, Lamb (FA signing) OF, Barton (Rule V Draft) C, Hall ROTATION: 1. Buehrle 2. Vazquez 3. Contreras 4. Floyd 5. Chris Capuano
Can you guys honestly think of any SP on a high level then Capuano that the Sox would be able to get given Crede's current value in a straight up Crede for 1 player (SP) trade?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) Ah, the old All-Star game post. Lets take a look at All-Star games from years past. 2005 is my favorite. All these players were in the 2005 All-Star game. C-Mike Piazza 1B-Shea Hillenbrand 2b-Luis Castillo 3b-Morgan Ensberg SS-Cesar Izturis OF-Scott Podsednik OF-Luis Gonzalez OF-Garret Anderson P-Livan Hernandez P-Pedro Martinez P-Matt Clement P-Kenny Rogers P-Bartolo Colon RP-Danny Baez Do you really want ANY of those players? But they were All-Stars, right??? I mean it must be a mistake Pedro was on there right? Future HOFer. Bartolo Colon also won the Cy Young that year. Everyone else here is decent at best
