Birmingham wins two on Bobby Jenks Bobblehead Night.
-
This is the last series of the first half for Birmingham. They've played 14 series this season and haven't lost one. That's impressive and a pretty good nod to Ever Magallanes.
-
3-run triple for Christian Marrero. 6-0 Barons, 6th inning.
-
Gameday has Dan Hudson pitching, but Matt Long is in in relief in Game 2.
Hudson starts tomorrow for Birmingham.
-
Gartrell hit a 2-run homer in the 9th to win it for Birmingham.
-
With two outs, Shelby walked. Retherford singled to move Shelby to third, Flowers struck out. On to the 9th.
-
Retherford is due up 4th in the bottom of the 8th. Just get a runner on. He'll do the rest.
-
Brandon Allen 0-1 at Charlotte.
-
Birmingham is tied 2-2 in the 8th. First game of a doubleheader, so this is extra innings.
Homer for Gartrell tied it in the 5th.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 03:02 PM)Is he OK, who do we get?
Jack McDowell.
-
Just to be clear, that 4-4 was the score in the 9th. CJ tied it up. Viciedo won it. 5-4 final.
-
Viciedo wins it with a basehit. This team is awesome.
-
CJ does it again. Double to knock in a run with two outs in the 9th. 4-4. Flowers intentionally walked. Viciedo has a chance to be the hero.
-
Bad defense by Gartrell and Viciedo led to four unearned runs for Harrell. Barons trail 4-3 going to the 9th
-
Nice start for Charlie Leesman. 6.2 innings, no runs.
Jon Gilmore made his 19th error.
-
Somebody should tell Flowers to get some new walk up music. Your Love is Beckham's. He made it to the majors first. It's his.
-
Perfect Game for Carlos Torres. Game called after five innings.
-
Solo shot for Flowers. 3-0, top 4.
-
Rain delay in Pawtucket. It's going to be a long one. There goes Torres' 9-inning perfect game.
-
15 up, 15 down for Torres.
-
And then Josh Kroeger hit a grand slam. 5-0
-
Charlotte is leading 1-0 in the 5th at Pawtucket.
Carlos Torres perfect through 4 innings.
-
You see where you are in the standings at the All Star break. If they're within 5 games at the break and a .500 team, you go for it, especially if the starting pitching is putting up consistent quality starts until then. You can't sell off right now.

QUOTE (whtsox13 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 09:06 PM)If they make it up Sep 3rd they go 3 weeks without an off day. I think there are rules in place regarding the number of games between off days.
The rule is 20 days. It would be 20 days for the Sox; 16 for the Cubs.

Daniel Hudson is going to get the win for Birmingham.
7 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 0 er, 2 bb, 8 so
This guy is on the fast track. This is a lot like Brandon McCarthy in 2004.
