White Sox vs Cubs First Pitch 1:20 CT
QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Terrible defense by Morel with the runner in front of him, No runs should have been scored. They showed a close up replay where Morel didn't have the best grip on the ball. It was a good idea to make sure he can get a good throw off and at least get the easy out.

never mind, Morel had a bad grip on the ball at first, so good move to not throw home and just get the sure out

Jackson kinda got away with one on that 3-2 pitch, Soto could have crushed it I thought. Morel had a play on Pena at home. Just get Wells and end it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 01:49 PM) The radio guys actually think the wind died down and that if the wind were blowing it would have pushed it foul and out. Hmm, well it definitely looked like it was hit hard enough to go out, then it just got pushed to the LF corner, very nearly foul

Gordo's could have been a homer, but the wind pushed it down & towards the corner. Jackson actually looks decent with the bat, well hit ball at Pena

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) Not able to watch but I'm picturing the sped up Benny Hill closing credit skits. He made the catch somewhat easily, then slipped and fell on the wet grass

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) Vegas has the total at 12.5. Whoa. I was gonna say the over is a lock, but that is a bit high. I still see it clearing at least 13 runs though.

Happy with the moves today, especially Brunette. Only concern would be that some are a bit old and how much they have left in the tank. Just get Frolik, Campoli, & Sharpie signed and let's get this season started!

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) I'm not sure it's right to just average all the OPS numbers from each team. Reed Johnson has a .940 OPS in how many PAs? 106 ABs. I know its not an exact science and that would be like counting Lilli's .846 OPS in a similar amount of at-bats. I was just showing that their lineup has probably been better hitting than ours.

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie Lots of interest in Andrew Brunette from NYR, CHI, NSH, amongst others, but CHI may be frontrunner. Brunette is at Wimbledon today.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) That Cub lineup is so awful. How do they ever win any games? Looking at the OPSs of both teams, one would think the Cubs would have won 6 more games than the Sox, not vice versa. And this doesn't include Adam Dunn's sparkling .619. Pierre lf - .626 Morel 3b - .564 Quentin rf - .886 Konerko 1b - .970 AJ c - .723 Ramirez ss - .757 Rios cf - .594 Beckham 2b - .653 AVERAGE OPS - .722 Fukudome rf - .761 Barney 2b - .676 Castro ss - .778 Ramirez 3b - .797 Pena 1b - .806 Soriano lf - .818 Johnson cf - .940 Soto c - .745 AVERAGE OPS - .790
