Again, until he does something higher up he’s just another Sox prospect that I don’t have much hope for right now. No need to sharpie him in as the starter when we don’t have the best track record of identifying MLB level bats in the draft

I would suggest extending your vacation until he signs, don’t think it happens for a couple more weeks

If the almighty Madrigal is what everyone says he is then he will be up here before we know it. Only way to find that out is by consistently playing him right now in spring training....all this is doing is seeing where the great Madrigal could possibly fit in

It’s spring training right now, where is Madrigal going to get reps at right now to even see if he has a shot this season on a big league roster, let moncada work on 3rd as a fail safe, give Madrigal reps at 2nd for the time being and move forward..... for all I care they could have Tim Anderson behind the plate right now...

What else is the team to say at this moment? They aren’t going to say yeah Machado is our starting 3B, he isn’t under contract yet and therefore are working with what is in camp right now

Whoa, just got an alert on my phone and I thought it said Padres agree to 8 year deal with Machado, upon further review it said they offered him and 8 year deal.....I almost pooped myself

Im trying to remain confident in the fact that management/ownership knew what they were getting into when they said we are allowed to have nice things. This isn’t the days of thrift shopping or getting someone for a bargain, at least not for these two players and if ownership thinks that way, then we weren’t serious to begin with.

One thing I will say is if we are at 8/250 and can’t up it another 10-15 million it makes you scratch your head on the Alonso and Jay acquisitions, then I will bite and say you could have taken that extra money to sweeten the pot for manny. My guess is they will be able to compete with the Padres offer but we shall see

It is rather quiet on our end, almost zero mentions of the Whitesox in any tweet with either of these two since this has all gone down. I would suspect this is exactly how Sox management would like it.
