  1. It's almost impossible to change somebody's opinion on defense, unless they buy saber stats (or unless they are completely wrong, ie they think Dye is a good fielder and you can use visual evidence to change their mind). I watched Chris play, and it did seem like Nix got to more balls then he did. But again, your eyes can be deceiving. I thought Nix' range was superior to Getz from watching games, but that isn't always the best way to tell. I use UZR to back up what I saw.
  2. My god, you are an arrogant jackass. You picked two examples of where it was inaccurate. Want me to find the many examples of where it is accurate? And is it impossible that he had an off year defensively? Maybe he had a nagging injury he was playing through.
  3. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...ion=2B#fielding -5.8 from fangraphs...
  4. Giving one example as justification, nice. UZR isn't completely accurate, but for the most part it works. More often than not their rating for a certain player will be accurate. But if you want to believe it is completely flawed and inaccurate do to one or few examples, be my guest.
  5. They actually do. You tend to remember the awful plays and the remarkable plays the most. That's why people thought Alexei was spectacular at 2nd.
  6. He has bad range.... He has a UZR of -5.8. I'm sure you don't believe in UZR though. Please explain how Getz is a good defensive player. Let me guess, you use your eyes?
  7. 2009 ALDS: 6 runs in 3 games 2006 ALDS: 7 runs in 3 games 2003 ALDS: 6 runs in 4 games Yep, it's the pitching.
  8. You made a sarcastic commenting alluding to Chris Getz playing good defense. Keep up the good work.
  9. Ugh, why would you want players like that? Nick Punto! Oh yeah! There's a reason the twins never make it past first round...
  10. All of Nix' scouting reports rave about how he has incredible range. It wasn't a fluke. He is amazing on defense at 2B. Nix has so much more potential than Getz. I really hope he breaks out in spring training. A powerful 2nd basemen who plays gold glove type defense is rare. Getz' ceiling is a low slugging, slap happy player who can steal a lot of bases and hopefully put up a .360 OBP. He blows. If Nix doesn't break out in spring training, I hate what we have at 2nd base. The only reason I see us playing Getz is because we hope he can become a future leadoff hitter. If we had one right now, it would be a simple choice to who we play at 2nd. With our pitching staff the way it is, why wouldn't you want an extremely good defensive infield? Nix' defense would help tremendously.
  11. He can pitch?
  12. You wouldn't give up big prospects for Pujols?
  13. a .900 OPS player isn't good enough to DH?
  14. Dayan 3-5 with a walk and a homerun. That's what i like to see. It seems like a lot of these pitchers are pretty outmatched.
  15. I can't call anybody a pinhead?
