To answer my own question and revisit Harper/Machado-mania, Harper seems to be disgruntled in Philly and wants the Phillies to be "worth it" for Dombrowski to make moves.

If the Phillies are out of it by the deadline, the Sox might be able to pull something off, but have no clue what the price would be - depending on how much money the Sox take on / I don't think Dombrowski has ever been in sell-mode.

There is definitely something to salivate about thinking about having Harper around for the 5-7 window we are in.  However, I am intrigued about Yoelqui who just seems the perfect last piece in this awesome stable of young talent that’s been amassed by the Sox.  Happy to be patient waiting for him, and just plug in short term gaps until he gets here.

I think I may still like that Robert catch from last year more....but the smile on Billy's face when he was on his back was truly priceless.

Ah yes, loved that catch!  I think with Billy’s catch it was the combo of the smile and the hydroplaning that won me over!

No, I don't. You need to relax. You're clearly overreacting and getting upset over nothing. Ok? 👌

Just stop with your dumbass age comments about the manager.  Either call him out on your in-game criticisms of his judgment or STFU.  Calling him senile and old man adds nothing to the quality of the thread discussion.  Enough already of this nonsense.

I think the senile, old man forgot we're still in the 8th inning.

Either that, or he has no faith in anyone else to pitch a clean inning as the setup man. So Hendriks has to pitch for a two inning save. LoL this should be interesting.

Stop with the senior, old man bs.  That’s not cute any longer (not that it ever was).

Question his judgment all you want but stop with the ageist crap already.

Will the Sox ever see the full potential of Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert ? Seems like a pretty simple question on the surface. With young guns like Guerrero , Jr. and Fernando Tatis, jr. currently setting the baseball world on fire how do you feel about it.

This might have been the year to expect huge breakouts from Eloy and La Pantera but in their short careers we have only caught glimpses of the huge upside for both. Both seem to be off the field more than they are on it. Maybe an even more important question is will we ever see it in the same season where both Jimenez and Robert play 140+ games  ?

I know it's in our nature as Sox fans to temper expectations or think that everything that can go wrong will go wrong . So far that's been pretty accurate with Jimenez and Robert.

Their potential impact is huge . Will they ever reach it ?

One would think youth being on both of their sides should enable each to reach their enormous potential.  The only question from my view is any long term after effects of each of their serious injuries.

I think Eloy has a much better chance of reaching his offensive potential if he’s put at DH full time.  I do worry about other potential serious injuries in the outfield with him in the future.

Although it’s still early, it’s just very exciting to see how our boys are starting to get attention at the national level.

As the season moves on and with continued success, and hopefully a nice splash in the postseason this year, our young stars are only going to climb higher in voting like this.

This window of contention we are in is going to be a lot of fun - injuries be damned!

I never understood how all the GM's missed on him. I thought it was crazy that he only could get $3mm or whatever the number was. His upside v. signing a Lester or a Trevor Williams if youre the Nats/Cubs was so insanely different. One had upside, one doesn't.

I've driven the Rodon bandwagon for a long time, even during his bad times. I continue to cheer for him and even despite his injury risk, hope we can find a way to work out a 4 year type agreement at like $10mm a year. Think it represents a healthy price for a guy who should continue to have the upside we see balanced by injury risk. When healthy and good - (current run) he's every bit of a top stuff guy in the league deserving of $20mm a year. However that injury risk will always be there. Giving a 3-4 year deal would seem to balance upside, downside, length, price, etc. etc. to where it could be a win for all parties.

Either way we'll have some decisions to make with Lynn and Rodon with Kopech and Crochet probably ready for their next step in 2022.

If things continue the way they are for Carlos, Mr. Boras is very likely to land him a better deal than this.
