  1. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) I have absolutely no hope Kenny will do anything to help to max the opportunity, not unless we can clone Kenny and put the clone in charge of another org, then we could trade one of our overpaid, aging, overrated slugs for 2 or 3 excellent prospects. The Cloned KW would've already dumped his top prospects for Brian Roberts
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) Phillies, Red Sox, Pirates, and Braves. Aren't 3 out of those 4 the same teams we had been listed as heavily scouting? Edit: Nope, 2 out of the 4 - the other listed was the Yankees Lavarnway + Britton, get it doneeee
  3. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Peter Gammons just tweeted "Q" and thats it.... https://twitter.com/pgammo/status/96652551973376000 wtf
  4. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) A trade of Danks should being no less than an absolute buffet of prospects, top prospects, with at least a couple major league ready. Danks is a bulldog, great pitcher, young, durable, can win big games...what in the hell would we want to move him for? For NOTHING less than a pure overpayment. NOTHING LESS. Just curious, what kind of value do you think Danks has? He's not gonna pull a Sabathia/Lee/Halladay return of talent, at least I wouldn't bet on it
  5. probably already been posted, it's not a brand new tweet... just been skimming the beatwriters/bloggers twitter accounts http://twitter.com/#!/BNightengale/sta...386194459459584 "The trouble with trading Quentin is that it would signify they're giving up" He thinks that if we trade CQ, it's a give up/rebuild trade..
  6. i think one of our fellow Sox posters who has inside sources said Danks most certainly isn't on the table unless they decide to burn it down and start over
  7. Pretty sure this will be Quentin's highest trade value barring a 2008 renaissance next year, plus two teams want him, or at least we think they do (theres still a slight possibility that somebody from either ATL or PHI is trying to artificially drive up CQ's value with no intention of finalizing the transaction
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) This season he's up to 7.7%, which is improvement from flat-out sucking to mediocre, and that's against AAA pitching where the control isn't nearly as good. Plus theres that whole thumb injury
  9. Kennt needs to have CQ's .959 OPS away from the cell jotted down on his iPad during discussions
  10. Forgive me for thinking Kenny screws this up and we end up with marginal talent
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) Put Rios out there then and wait for Viciedo. No, this is exactly what we wanted. Let Braves and Phils fight over Quentin, and us end up with Dominic Brown
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) For some reason, I think there's a decent chance a Quentin/Brown deal gets done. I'm sure other pieces would have to be involved, but the Sox are in a great spot with Quentin. Remember, any team that trades for him will likely get type A/B after the 2012 season, so those picks need to be factored into his price. I'll miss him, might be my favorite Sox player right now behind Paulie
  13. Peavy moves to bullpen if we make the playoffs IMO
  14. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) I think KW's in a tough spot right now. If this were another division, the decision to sell would be easy. But with the AL Central being so bad, the Sox are right in the thick of it. I would imagine even right now if a great package was offered (like Brown and Biddle), it'd be tough to say no. Problem is will Dunn Rios and Peavy's contracts hurt our chances of competing next year IMO it's essential that Sale is in the rotation next year
  15. Bruney's WHIP is 1.5, he isn't good. I cringe everytime he comes in to be honest
  16. KW has all the control right now with a CQ deal 1. Team is in contention, Sox need to be wowed 2. Phillies and Braves could get into bidding war 3. CQ has been hitting well since the break, potentially increasing his value How desperate are the Phillies, that's the question
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Not at all. Huh? Ok
  18. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:24 PM) I don't see how they can trade TCQ at this point. They're 3.5 games back. They just won 4 out of 6 against the division leader. Trade CQ? ha, there were posters saying Rasmus should be taking Quentins spot ! Like that's somehow making us better
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) First of all, FIXED. "Next" would hopefully result in you cease and desisting on constantly being so negative around here. Geesh! Viciedo and De Aza appear to be living up to their potential by lighting it up there down in Charlotte this year, and ALL you can talk about is the possibility of each of them being a bust up here at the Major League level. Not the probability of either of them bringing forward their progress - nooooo, you would never think to talk about that - but simply the possibility of them "busting" out. Thanks so much for the shot of positive thought there, as usual. Glass is always 1/4 full with you, isn't it! Lol! (I would be remiss if I didn't add that signature and gratuitous phrase of yours!) Nope, just tired of all the overzealous rage around these boards when we dont call up, or trade for a f***ing PROSPECT. some of the people around here, I think their worlds would come crumbling down around them if Viciedo came up and ended up no better than Juan Uribe, without the defense I love prospects, but I love proven major leaguers a hell of a lot more. But you can continue thinking I'm only here to dismiss our minor leaguers as nobodies with no future Please keep missing the point I'm making, because that's the only way you can continue with these ridiculous f***ing responses to my posts
  20. This deal has to be false, I think the dude could possibly be getting tested for leaks, for lack of a better pun None of it has been even slightly hinted at anywhere else, even the Peavy and Ejax deals were eventually acknowledged rather quickly after k0na put it out there This was put out there during the day, during prime rumor time and not a single hint of it has popped up anywhere else Not buying it
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) I apologize if this has already been asked, but what do you think it would've taken for the Sox to have acquired Rasmus. Jackson + ? + ? + ? people in the know posted in this thread that Sox FO didnt want him
  22. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:05 PM) So all of this continual progress by Viciedo ever since we signed him, along with the fact that he is absolutely dominating AAA ball this year, and you are talking about "busting"? What is it with you sometimes!! Dude, De Aza had a f***ing .876 OPS in AAA, Josh Fields was a AAA stud. 1. Prospects bust. That's why they're called prospects, and not major leaguers. 2. I never said Viciedo will bust. I said he could bust. Next
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 07:55 PM)
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) I honestly dont see how Viciedo can be a bust. He would be one of the best hitters on the team right now if he put up last seasons numbers. And that was before he knew how to take a walk. Because he had a productive 100 AB doesn't really mean anything. The league won't even get to attempt to make legitimate adjustments to you with that small of a sample size He could end up busting, just like Beckham has (yeah, I went there)
  25. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 07:09 PM) Rios "good first half" of 2010 is rather mythical given that he OPS'd over .800 in 1 month all year and it was 1.106 Roidssssssssss!
