  1. Hey guys, check out a funny from my comedy group. I mean it's not ABOUT opening day, but good FOR opening day. Poking a little fun at the Indians in this one...
  2. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) pitching is overrated, as it's incredibly deep. no sluggers?? and my credibility is that I'm awesome at fantasy baseball. like... seriously good at it. I've won my serious keeper league 2 of the last 4 years and was third the other two. It's H2H, and even though my record last year was something like 30 games ahead of the pack, got unlucky in the playoffs. point is, I never keep pitching. Pretty much ever. I'm ditching Cain, Bumgarner AND Sale. I've got Stanton for 25. But I don't really get the point of keeping stars who cost me a lot last year. With only 3 keepers, there will be plenty of those to draft, while guys like Sale and Encarnacion, I have at a crazy good price.
  3. Hey all, I'm playing in an auction draft points league with 3 keepers. First year (this year), you get to keep 3 players at no inflation from their draft price. I'm def. keeping Chris Sale ($5) and Edwin Encarnacion ($1) and am having tons of trouble picking my 3rd keeper. Figured I'd get some second opinions. Should I keep: Verlander ($27) Darvish ($9) or Chapman ($1) I go hard after pitching, and will probably try to get Verlander back if I let him go (he's currently ranked at $29 for this year's draft, and my league tends to overspend on top players, so he might go for more like $33). It's seeming more and more likely that chapman will be a closer, so I'm starting to lean away from him. What do you guys think? Anyone else struggling with fantasy offseason stuff feel free to post.
  4. He's just said it every game I've watched for the last 2 weeks.
  5. ...that the first rule of baseball is "catch the ball?"
  6. 1. JP LF 2. Lilli 1B 3. PK DH 4. Rios CF 5. Ramirez SS 6. Flowers C 7.De Aza RF 8. Morel 3B 9. Beckham 2B That is a pathetic lineup. I would probably go with JP, De Aza, Ramirez, PK, Flowers, Lilli, Morel, Rios, Beckham. Or I would just forfeit the game. I dunno if I can actually watch a game where Rios bats 4th. Does Ozzie not understand what a 4th hitter does? Is this like him acting out because he always wanted to bat 4th when he was playing? Like a drummer who always wanted to be a lead singer & then later in life he starts managing a band and forces everyone to let the drummer sing a few songs even though he sucks? I think JR should make Soxtalk the manager by committee for the rest of the season.
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) If AJ MUST catch, Flowers should DH. The guy can certainly hit better than Dunn and he takes a base at a good clip as well. If AJ & Flowers are both in the game anyway, I'd like to see Flowers at first. Lilli's fielding prowess is wasted there. Put him in center or second or third.
  8. Why not just play Flowers at first? Isn't he a 1B? Feel like Oz shoulda done that from the beginning. As long as you let Konerko run, bring AJ in to catch & bat 3rd, and stick flowers at 1st......
  9. Anyone know the record for combined pitcher/batter age? I'm guessing Wakefield pitching to Vizquel's gotta be up there. That's 88 years between them. If Clemens ever faced Franco in 2006, that might beat it by a year or two. Or if Moyer pitched to Franco in '07.
  10. I wish Ozzie would shut up and stop making an ass out of himself and this team. He acts like a drunk 5 year old and I'm sooooooo tired of it. Who said Viciedo would be our saviour? He's a really good young promising player who seems ready to be in the majors, and who has no less than 3 spots he can play in every day because our current high-paid veterans are sh*t, and we're trying to win a division. If I'd have realize "all in" meant "be blind to our faults and never make roster changes" I would have just given up and become a brewers fan before the season. Absolutely any other team in baseball would have him up by now. I firmly believe that. Can we bring Viciedo up and send Ozzie to the minors?
  11. if we've given up on Morel why can't Viciedo take his place? I know we've been playing him in OF and his 3b defense isn't great, but it hasn't been long since he was in the hot corner....doesn't it make sense to try him there if we don't have anybody and Ozzie refuses to take pierre out of the lineup? (plus pierre hasn't been that awful of late) There are so many ways to fit Viciedo in...it's really just mind-boggling.
  12. If we had split our games with the Twins so far this year instead of losing all of them before last night, we'd be in first place right now. It's pathetic that we can't beat these guys even when they're out-sucking us! Hopefully last night turned things around. Let's get 'em today! It' something to think about that as frustrating as this team has been, we're still only 4.5 games out of first. The division is ours to take if we want it. The way I see it, if just ONE of either Dunn, Rios or Beckham goes through a big hotstreak we'll be in first place in a month. And if all three of them can get to their expected form, we could easily keep the division the rest of the season. Hell, even if they don't and we just get lucky a few games we could win this division. AND if we bring up Viciedo and get rid of Teahen, and Viciedo does as expected, we'll do even better. I find it hard to see us getting far in the playoffs though, unless Dunn flips a switch and becomes the man we expect him to be and our offense can gain some consistency (I think we have playoff-caliber pitching).
  13. Awesome, thank you guys. Great suggestions, all. Pants, I think your suggestion of either parking in China Town or just dealing with the redline/brownline transfer after the game may make the most sense. Thinking of it, this may actually be the first time I'm having to get myself to the game. I've lived out of state for 7 years, and before that (and when I've come back to visit in the summer) I always went with my dad.
  14. Hey guys, I'm in town for a while & going to the game tomorrow. Staying in Lincoln Square, meeting a friend downtown during the day & then the 2 of us are going to the game. I'm trying to figure out the best transportation option. I have a car, but don't want to have to park it downtown AND at the Cell...that would end up costing a LOT. After the game I'm driving up to the NW suburbs, so would prefer not to have to take the El all the way back to Lincoln Square before getting in my car and driving up north some more... Does anybody know what the deal is with Bacardi at the Park? I'm pretty sure parking opens 2 hrs before game time, but do they let you park early if you're going to the restaurant? I'm wondering if I could drive down to the stadium during the day, leave my car, take the El downtown to meet my friend, return to the park on the El for the game, then grab my car and drive into the 'burbs after the game ends. Super complicated, right? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  15. It really bothers me that we have this guy who's supposed to be clutch and drive runs in, and the best thing he can do is take a walk with a runner on 2nd to set up the double play. He seems to do that a lot. That's a situation where Dunn should drive in Vizquel.
