  1. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) This is getting bad when fans have to blame everything on Ozzie. Everyone on the team hasn't ruined their moment to be unclutch. This post would be more predictable if Jackson stayed in and lost. I'm bored of the blame Kotsay/Ozzie routines. It's pretty simple. Ozzie sent a guy in to do a job most fans believe would be better than Jenks. He failed. End of story. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Guillen insists on putting his imprint on every game instead of letting the players play. I've never seen a manager who has to be the focal point of every event. Therefore, he opens the door for more criticism. He has historically poor judgment when it comes to handling a pitching staff. What I stated about this game was a fact. Jackson's best inning was his last. You have to able to recognize when a pitcher deserves to win or lose the game himself. Especially given the shaky closer situation. I've always thought Guillen was a lousy choice for manager and I still believe Reinsdorf forced him on Kenny. Kenny wanted Cito Gaston and Reinsdorf didn't want to pay him. Guillen came cheap which is always music to Reinsdorf's ears. If anyone is predictable it's fans like you who refuse to pull their heads out the sand and face reality. I love the Sox but my loyalty to them is not blind like yours.
  2. Jackson's best inning was his last. I am sick and tired of Guillen and his dumbass formula managing of the bullpen. When starters are pitching like that, they deserve to finish what they start. Pitch counts be damned.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) Really have to question AJP contiinuously calling for a splitter after it was obvious Putz had no command of it. I'm ready to try Santos as our closer. Here Here
  4. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) over under on how many "sky is falling" threads??? It is falling and for all you Pena fans out there, your boy did it again. They had momentum going into the 3rd and Pena took it all away. Like he does again and again and again.
  5. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) What the devil are you talking about? Garcia is our #5 starter, and he's already won ten games through two thirds of the season. What more do you expect from a #5 starter? He won 10 games because he was better than the opposing 5th starter 10 times. What ace has Garcia beaten this year. Yeah, I thought so. If he's matched against a higher quality pitcher he's likely to lose because the Sox are probably not going to score many runs off a higher quality pitcher. He's played out that's all it is to it. And if that's surprising to you, sorry. Wake up.
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) He's back with the pixies and woodland creatures Best post of the night.. It's as funny as it is true.
  7. The Freddy Garcia Experience is OVA! It's a miracle Reinsdorf and company got away this long with this year's version of hoping to catch lighting in a bottle. They need to grow up and start being major players in free agency.
  8. QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) Get Bobby in there to drill a Twinkie in the back. Send a message. Yeah and the message is: I've been reduced to coming in and drilling one of you guys because I suck as a closer and can't do anything else.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) Ozzie ought to find a way to throw Jenks for 2 innings today. And give us false hope he's ready to assume the closer role again? Let's just throw away the rest of the season as well as the game. Minnesota's confidence falls considerably after playing the Sox
  10. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Must be easy for Pena to throw 70 pitches every 3-4 games He's throws batting practice. Any of us can do that.
  11. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Tony Pena to replace Freddy in the rotation? I rather see present day Wilbur Wood.
  12. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Fail. At least 3 times this year he's saved us with solid 3+ inning appearances. And at least 10 times he has come in and put the game out of reach like tonight. 3 times out of the whole year, please. Man, there's a lot of love for him. You don't have a clue what constitutes a good middle man but you're not alone. Evidently Sox management doesn't know either.
  13. T-Pain in the ass fails to hold a team in check once again. What a surprise.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) Go home Freddy, it's T-Pain time. What parallel universe are you silly sox fans watching Pena on. He's the biggest rally killer on the team.
  15. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) Thanks. Start warming up Pena OMG Not "Put It Out of Reach" Pena You must be a Twins fan
  16. Can somebody tell Pena the object is to keep the opposition at bay to give your team some kind of chance? I don't think I've seen a reliever who puts more games out of reach than Tony Pena. But fans rave about him and his near 5 ERA which is atrocious for reliever.
  17. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) These are my opinions, feel free to disagree, no big deal Tonight they look like they just lost 36 of the last 47. And it will be the inability to put teams like this away that will ultimately cost them the division. Hey, but like you said, whatever. Doesn't matter how you feel they looked during this one game - they've still won 36 out of their last 47, and that stretch is far more indicative and predictive of the kind of team we have than just this one game. And with the Sox beating Detroit four out of the five teams they've faced each other coming into this game, your point about putting teams away is.......what? You can't win 'em all, you know. I've always thought that paranoid Reinsdorf and Boyer would have employees on chat rooms trying to spin...
  18. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) If the current state of the White Sox is causing you stress, you probably need to never watch baseball again. It gets WAY worse than this. Being in first place, winning the first of a doubleheader and trailing 5-1 in the second shouldn't cause a major rant. That's your opinion. I'm free to vent any way I please. Detroit is a lousy lousy team and the Sox should be putting teams like this away. When they lose the division by 1 game, you'll be tortured by the memory of games and teams like this.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) I couldn't be less worried about Detroit. I wasn't worried about playing last place Kansas City and second to last place Washington in 1967 in the last 5 games of the season either. The Sox only had to win 3 of those and go to the series. THEY LOST ALL 5 Don't tell me about not fearing any team.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) If the Sox lost half their lineup and a key part of their bullpen to injury, no, they wouldn't have gone on this kind of run. Well if Detroit is soooooooooooooooo bad, why are we losing? There's no such thing in sports as a zero chance.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) This is an impressive rant. Detroit is NOT going to win 10 in a row. Just like the Sox weren't going to do what they did over the last month and a half, right?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) Well, for a guy who belongs in the bullpen at best, 6 IP, 5 ER isn't awful. Awful lot better than Porcello, for example. Wow. that isn't saying much These guys have no business in the major leagues, period.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) You would think we don't teach our minor league pitchers how to throw strikes. UGH! Just asking for trouble. 7, 5 and 5 walks in his last 3 AAA starts for Torres...Harrell couldn't throw strikes consistently (but survived) same with Hudson. Had no plan regarding this second game. Is there anyone their organization that can pitch? Detroit is as close to death imaginable and we run some clown out there. Now watch Detroit win 10 in a row. I was going to go home early to watch the second game. Glad I didn't. And I'm not very excited about Jackson tomorrow either. Peavy really screwed us with his injuries. Best record in baseball for a month and half and only a game ahead of the Twins. Speaks more to how bad we were than how good we might be.
  24. Ozzie wants to be recognized as a great in-game strategist. He'll never be. He's at his best when the game basically calls for him to sit tight and do nothing.
