It is pretty quiet in Chicago media, you would think if we didn't get the claim, somebody would have leaked it by now. We have been the number one topic in the Manny hype for three days. It's odd for sure. Not to mention, all this morning teams behind us claimed to not even waste their time claiming him. Very strange, either a NL team claime him and he stays put, or a surprise AL team did and I really don't see a team out of the r race doing that for 4.3 mil. Well see.......?

I agree Oz is to blame as well, however KW is the GM and it's his job to put a team tht has the nest chance to succeed.I understand agreeing with oz orginally but after half of season seeing Kots blow, it his duty to rectify it. It doesn't matter at this point though. Nothing we can do about it. Which NL team do we think it is? I'm going with either the Phillies, Cardnials, or Reds.

I think you guys misunderstood me I was being critical of KW for making his plans so public about Manny. I understand he has limited control over the media but we know and seen he works best when it's quiet. The attendance part was me simplying pointing out the need for a move like Manny of Hoffman (push for 600 saves) because attendance has blown this season. Were 3.5 outand there was barely anyone at yest. Game and it's the end of August. I was critical of KWs methods this whole season; startting with the Thome decision, blowing gettig a hitter at the deadline, the openess of the drama between him and the guillen family, and now Manny. It's not been like him and the team has suffered because of it.

The only way the Rangers have a better shot was of we nor anyone else before us passed on Manny, which didn't happen seeing the reports saying multiple teams claimed Manny ad the Rays an Yanks not being one of those teams. it's pretty obvious one or more NL teams claimed him plus us and most likely the Rangers. I knew these was doomed with all the hype.the sox are deaperate for attendance and put our name out there to get ppl excited if we got him, great, if not KW saves face and says he tried. Same old BS with this administration. I'm disappointed this didn't happen.

Someone asked LAs beat writer what he thought it would take for us to get ManRam, here's his ansewer for alll those who are wondering what it may cost. dylanohernandez @antonioG4L Probably inventory-type prospects... someone in the Jon Link mold... plus salary relief, which is what the #Dodgers really want. about 8 hours ago in reply to antonioG4L I know our system decently well, but not that well. Anybody have players that fit that mold? I also think that the Dodgers would take a lesser package for various reasons; first because we basically gave them Thome last season for their playoff push, secondly we gave them a lot for JP IMO. Finally these teams know each others prospects well, or should, because we share a ST complex and have for the last two years. We also have trade history in each of the past two years. If Manny falls to us I see no way of it falling through because of prospects or mannys requests. This may be a smoke screen to scare other teams away by saying he wants an extension and won't waive his NTC for just anyone.

Correct. I don't see him getting to us and then not claiming him. So I don't see him passing through and being able to control the leverage. An extension would defeat the purpose of a ManRam acq. I would want him playing for contract in September. I'm find with him as our DH next year, just not at the cost of an extension now. Something seems really fishy to me with all the publicity surrounding this all week. A lot is already out which makes me nervous. Either KW really wants Manny or LA is using us like every other team and player as leverge to increase interest.

The Rays and Rangers are interested in Ramirez, though the Dodgers are not fully committed to making a trade. Ramirez wants a one-year extension to waive his no-trade clause, a source tells Rosenthal and Morosi. If he clears waivers, Ramirez could have the leverage to make such demands, but if a team claims him, the Dodgers would only be able to negotiate with that club. Steve where did you hear the cards? I hope not, I don't see Larussa putting up with manny. Or any NL team playing him in the feild with his injury probs this year. I don't think we end up with him tho, unfortunitly with all the media coverage of our interest will impede our ability to be awarded a claim. Someone will block/claim him before he gets to us which is a shame! Finally, if he does somehow get to us, it'd be sick to see him debut during Frank Thomas Day vs the yanks. I guess stay tuned and hope for the best, atleast I will.
