QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) I hope they win tonight and then bring up Viciedo after the day off tomorrow. Put Dunn on the DL with his sore knee. Didn't Oz say he hopes for Dunn in the Cle series -

I blame Thornton for screwing up against Gordon, no way u come in vs a lefty first batter and go 3-0 against him and eventually let him on base. -

it was funny how KW said he would never give any one player near 30 million dollar per year contract not even Pujols when he has Rios + Dunn near 30 million and both those players don't even match 1/2 of Pujols' performance -

If we somehow get rid of Rios's contracts just somehow and Dunn walks away from the game and leaves the money on the table since he is so horrible, then I would be all in for signing Albert Pujols or Prince Fielder. But ofcourse I am just dreaming. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) There's no way Dunn walks away from $44 million. Maybe he pulls off a Gil Meche and sees that he sucked so bad for the team and do something good by not taking the money -

How many ppl here want Dunn to retire? I do, sadly. There have been rumours swirling that if his struggles continue he will walk away from baseball. So that does mean we dont owe him the money on his remaining years of the contract. We can certainly somehow retool the roster with that money, especially 3B or sumthing -

I dunno if its been talked about here but Dunn has admitted to the notion of quitting baseball. He said if he no longer enjoys playing the game then he will leave, and by the looks of it there certainly is no joy in the type of season he is having. So perhaps he might just retire and rid his contract off our books. Ofcourse we don't know how much sucking will make him come to that decision. any1 who really thinks the Sox do not have a shot at the division gotta be kidding. Fortunately for us the division is a joke as we all know. Second, we have 13 games remaining vs CLE and 9 vs Det who are the two team ahead of us in the race. Yes we have one of the worst offense in the league. But at the same token we have one of the best pitching in the league. With our pitching, we are always going to be in the ballgame, and will have a shot to win every game they pitch us. Being only 4.5 out, and facing the guys ahead of us enough times, we control our fate and we can right the ship still even this late in the season with the crummy record that we have.

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 10:57 PM) how does this help us? It just means the Twins are into the race...and we ALL KNOW what happens when the sox play that team. It definitely does help us cuz its still keeps us only 4.5 games out of the division lead. We still got 65 games left in the season and in our past 65 games we have gained 6.5 games on the division leader. So there is certainly hope to win the division. 4.5 Games is not a huge lead by any means, but ofcourse our s***box offense needs to contribute asap if we plan on taking the division
-
MIN win walkoff style, we are still only 4.5 out
-
bases loaded for MIN with 1 out
-
unfortunately only was able to catch the final 3 outs of the game. Any insights on how Peavy responded with the extra rest. Again our offense screws up again against a no name pitcher.
-
Duffy had 9 Ks in 3.2 innings last month vs the Cards. Lets not hope for another game like last night where the opposing pitcher just mows us down. Hopefully Jake can bounce back with the extra rest.
