  1. Can Peavy keep this up? It sure looks like it, so far. He looks comfortable up there and like he has himself under control, which is a nice change from recent memory. I'm not 100% that he can be the ace of this staff like he should/could be, but who knows, he might just surprise me.
  2. I know I've been watching Viciedo for a bit to see if he could in some way help the club. He has the bat, but obviously, if you're looking at him from a DH standpoint, he can't take Dunn's spot with the money they have in him. Not sure the outfield would be a good fit for him right now either. The other two guys in this article: http://www.upperdeckreport.com/news_articl...errer_id=290721 look kind of iffy. Jordan Danks (brother of John Danks, whom I didn't even know had a brother) just doesn't look consistent enough to take the center field spot and Tyler Flowers (whom I've looked at before) just doesn't have the defense!

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) His numbers from 6-8 years ago are almost the same as his numbers from last year. Plus his numbers could have easily been inflated due to the fact that he was playing in the ballpark in Cincinnati. The dude is country strong (think he got phrase to describe him more than anyone I've ever seen or heard), but he's always been a big strikeout guy. He hits homers or strikes out, that's his thing. A guy like him doesn't just change who he is throughout the course of his career.
  4. It happens, just look at Ryan Franklin and Joe Nathan. Just goes to show you how quickly those jobs can be taken away from you as a reliever. I don't see why they wouldn't maybe give him a shot in the rotation at some point, but I could understand if they left him in the reliever spot out of habit. He has the stuff to be a starter, I think, but he could also be a dominant closer. Either way, I think the Sox need to bring him up soon.
  5. You guys seen this kid? The closer role isn't really great for the Sox right now and this guy looks pretty legit. He has a long way to go in the farm system, but he looks like a guy to get excited about. He seems like one of the better prospects for that reliever role. http://www.upperdeckreport.com/news_article/show/88756
