  1. Adam Eaton: The Reporter Adam gets Conor to crack a little smile!
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 24, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) Lol, I guess that means he never figured out how to use the torrent that he downloaded. No. lol. And my computer was messing up after I downloaded it so I just deleted it and would rather have the real version. Thank you though. I still sent you a message about your rosters. Trying to figure it out
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) Holy injuries batman. Somehow we are 30-21 on the season despite injuries to Abreu (4 weeks), Samardzija (7 weeks), Quintana (2 weeks), Eaton (6 weeks), Jennings (14 months), Bonafacio (33 months....uh...ok), Micah Johnson, Noesi, Axelrod, and I also had a 9 game suspension from John Danks for fighting Miggy. lol. After Shark and Q were both injured at the same time, I finally gave in and called up Rodon, who in 85 innings between AA and AAA, had 115 K and a 4 WAR in only 11 starts. He's making his debut right now. Oh, and draft day came around. I had the 12th pick and took Daz Cameron, although he wants 3x his slot money. So I took a bunch of college players and they all signed for underslot, so hopefully I can bring Daz in, even though he's listed as an "extremely hard" sign. About to download the game now. I am pretty sure I played this game like 5 years ago
  4. Surprised we won with 25 turnovers especially on the 2nd night of a back to back against a good Dallas team
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) Hahn sounds like he's rooting for Jesse Crain to be on the team. Won't rush him. Love it. Hope he is back into form midway through the season
  6. Conor looks like he is in hell lol
  7. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 01:10 AM) Yes, would have like to see more ball movement especially out of that second unit. Spurs looked dead tonight, but a win is a win. On a side note, I think we now have enough Kirk Hinrich boneheaded plays on the year to make the official 2015 Kirk Hinrich lowlight reel. He is pretty much done. He was at least serviceable most of the year last year but he completely sucks this year. I saw a tweet after he scored in the 4th that it was his first points in 50+ min of floor time going back to Saturday.
  8. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 11:22 PM) I almost joined an OOTP 15 league today, but I read through the vast amount of rules and "hardcore" settings and I decided against it. I've spent the entire day, on and off, making all the notable transactions of this current offseason to get the rosters set up for a 2015 start. Some may say a waste of time, others may say a GIANT waste of time. I just didn't want to start a Sox franchise with a roster that is so vastly different. Shark, Robertson, Melky, LaRoche, Duke, Emilio change the dynamic of the team so, so much. Sounds interesting. Can you share roster like MLB The Show
  9. Bulls finally back? Been awhile since we played this well

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) Honestly, MTV is trying to be classy with her memory but I dont agree, I dont think they shouldve aired it, especially when you literally see her dying right in front of the cameras. Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the editing. I hope they talked to her family to make sure they were ok with it.
  11. QUOTE (BigFinn @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) First, at least the topic isn't stat tails. Back to the topic at hand: As far as last year is concerned Baseball-reference.com has determined that the Sox had 115 different batting orders last year (117 if you count pitchers in inter-league games). The most frequently occurring player/position combinations were Adam Eaton leading off (123 time) and Jose Abreu batting 3rd (113 times). Beckham (remember him) batted in the two hole 66 times, Dunn batted clean-up 60 times and Alexei batted in the two-hole 50 times. No other players batted more than 50 times in any slot in the batting order. Just for giggles I looked at Baseball-reference's batting orders page for the 1975 Cincinnati Reds—Sparky Anderson submitted 105 different line-ups, not counting pitchers, over the course of the season. Pete Rose led off in all 162 games; Ken Griffey, Sr. batted in the two-hole 86 times; and Joe Morgan batted third 119 times. I thought that Morgan batted second more frequently, but he only batted there 19 times during the season. In games 1, 2, and 7 of the 1975 series, Sparky sent Rose, Morgan, and Johnny Bench to the plate #1, #2, #3. But in games 3, 4, 5, and 6, Sparky started off the line-up with Rose, Griffey, and Morgan. Anyway, getting back to the Sox, in 2013, the most frequent #1, #2, and #3 hitters were Alejandro DeAza, Alexei Ramirez, and Alex Rios. 2012 DeAza (127) Youkilis (75) Dunn (145): DeAza hit .329 for the Sox in 54 games in 2011 2011 Juan Pierre (154) Alexei Ramirez (100) Paul Konerko (64): Paulie batted .312 in 2010 2010 Pierre (156) Omar Vizquel (74) Alex Rios (112): Juan Pierre batted .308 for the Dodgers in 2009 2009 Scott Podsednik (119) Ramirez (63) Jermaine Dye (83): Alexei hit .290 and JD hit .292 in 2008, close but no cigar 2008 Orlando Cabrera (128) AJ Pierzynski (83) Carlos Quentin (93): Cabrera hit .301 for the Angels in 2007 2007 Jerry Owens (83) Tadahito Iguchi (57) Jim Thome (120) 2006 Scott Podsednik (120) Tadahito Iguchi (133) Jim Thome (112): only 87 different batting orders 2005 Scott Podsednik (124) Tadahito Iguchi (129) Carl Everett (82): Iguchi batted .333 for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks That takes us to the glorious World Series. It seems like we have been lucky to have one .300 hitter entering the #1, #2, or #3 slots in the batting order in the following season. So, your point that Adam Eaton (.300), Melky Cabrera (.302), Jose Abreu (.317) batting 1-2-3 is a pretty singular occurrence seems valid. And AWESOME. One more: 1972 Pat Kelly (95) Mike Andrews (77) Dick Allen (123): Kelly batted .291 for the Sox, Andrews batted .282 for the Sox, and Dick Allen batted .295 for the Dodgers - all in 1971. Kelly and Andrews reverted to the mean, but Dick Allen almost carried the Sox to the AL West title single-handedly. Winning

That Challenge episode was tough to watch.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) FYI, Future Sox will have a writer credentialed and attending Sox Fest this year as a member of the media for the first time. More to come. Lucky! That should be fun, congrats!
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) I'd rather him go to the Nationals. That rotation would be so much fun to watch. Well if they plan on trading Zimmerman I think the rotation is basically the same unless they getting something good in return. I don't think Max is much better then Zimmerman
  16. Jordan Zimmerman After hearing the Nats are trying to trade him, I would love to bring him to this team. Our rotation would be the best in the league
  17. No... It would be nice to get another pitcher but no, not disappointed
  18. I guess this is the place for this. I am traveling to Chicago in about 2 months. And I was planning on surprising and doing something special for my girlfriend one of the days we are there. I wanted to get a Limo to take us around the city and see some places we haven't been able to go to and take us to dinner that night. Does anyone have a service they recommend that is fairly priced for just 2 or so hours?
  19. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) Cotillo tweeting that industry thinks Nats are moving in on Scherzer. Could move Zimmermann. Between Nats and one other team.
  20. Going to see American Sniper tomorrow. I am nervous, never been a War movie fan.

After seeing Fargo and Billy Bob Thornton win Golden Globes I decided to start the show. I have 2 episodes left but so far it has been really good. I can't imagine this is exactly how everything happened though. Edit: Just finished the last two episodes. Wow, they were intense. Great show.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) So winter in the St. Louis area apparently lasts about a week and a half. Supposed to be in the 50's all weekend here. The next week it will be 10 degrees and snowing 8 inches. The weather here is just crazy
