Ryu seems to get injured & miss time almost every season, with last year being the exception.
On the topic of time missed to injuries, is there a good resource that compiles injury information, time missed ... etc.? I always feel like it's a natural kind of thing to have on bRef, but I've never seen it.

No more awkward post-game interviews with Jason. Bummer.

If it's like other sports, the loser does not become the winner when the winner vacates. There just isn't a winner.

Ahhh, Bumgarner. I can't wait to see the clubhouse with him and TA7 in it after the first bat flip. Tension so thick, you can cut it with a knife!

Oh, puke. 🤮Congratulations, you've officially graduated to insufferable.

In what world does it make sense to dh Castillo today
The same world in which so many people are so sure that the Sox will not pick up his option for next year. Frankly, it is exactly things like this that make me think we haven't seen the last of ole' Beef.

He certainly fits the bill for what this team needs, a TOR LHP. But, I agree … I wouldn't touch him/his contract right now. There are lots of red flags with him these days.
-
He's also damaged goods right now. He got platelet injections for his left elbow but will be re-revaluated and may yet require TJS.

In some alternate timeline ...
The difference between getting the 7th versus the 8th draft pick in the 2015 draft is of minimal importance
#7 Andrew Benintendi
#8 Carson Fulmer

Good Lord, Bennetti. Give the Romo thing a rest already ...

Eloy is such a tentative fielder. He's obviously playing afraid. I'm much more concerned that his throwing arm is almost as bad as his actual fielding.

For $9MM? You'd have to dfa my ass.

Why would he sign up for that, and why would the Sox want him for that role? It's pretty simple, you better be able to strike out hitters if you want a chance to succeed in the majors now (for the most part). Pitching to contact is antiquated.
FWIW, there was an interview with Nova a few days ago and he was very enthusiastic about coming back next year. He didn't explicitly say as a starter only, but he seemed to want to let his level of interest be known.

So why call him up then?
Call up who? Mendick? I don't know. Perhaps they are rewarding him for a good minor league season. Perhaps they are trying to give the die-hards something to talk about. In any case their actions speak volumes about how they really feel about him.
I'd ask you the same question ... If they're not going to play him, why did they bother to call him up?

It’s ridiculous Mendick isn’t playing
Kind of makes you believe they already have their minds made up. Same thing with not calling up Yermin. Seems that they have determined that he is a non-prospect and isn't even worthy of ABs in meaningless September games.

It seems the concept of "short term pain for long term gain" is lost on some people.

TA's footwork is just awful. What is Ron Washington up to these days?

This says there is an option with a buyout. I would have assumed that this means it's a club option. How does a player option with buyout work? Does Boston owe him 2.5 million even if he decides to opt-out?

I’ve answered the question in other threads. Option 1 would be JDM. Option 2 would be Castellanos. Option 3 would be Moustakas.
I've seen this several times now. According to BRef, JDM can opt out after 2020 and 2021.

This is already getting old. This should be absolutely unbearable by the 3rd inning.

Collins another HR!

Oops ... didn't notice that the post with the stats was from August 9th.

And keep in mind that Collins' Aug 2019 BABIP is only 0.182!
What about Collins?

After the curious addition of Yermin to the 40-man, the Sox are now carrying five catchers. It seems like something has to give. Either McCann or Collins is on the block or Seby is about to get DFA'd. Mercedes has little trade value.
