Don’t get me wrong, it needs to happen…but whatever we have to sell isn’t going to turn this franchise around. Cease is about the only guy I can see netting us any kind of significant prospect. Sadly the only turn around for the Sox is probably tank mode for 3-4 years at least. It’s not like they can clear the cap and then sign big free agents, we all know that isn’t happening until Jerry is gone.
Plus, just the idea of Hahn starting another rebuild is crazy. Trade whoever you can that isn’t under contract next year and then let a new front office (KW must go too) make the decisions on the rest in the off-season.

Tampa is 20 games over .500 and they are up by only 2.5 games. In the Central their magic number would be like 5.
That’s probably going to be the painful part of this season. No team in the Central is good enough to pull away so come trade deadline we could be looking at another scenario where the front office is between buying and selling and does nothing instead because the team is “in contention”.

You might not be worried about saving payroll but after paying above average payrolls for a fee years now with weaker than anticipated gate revenues and very little playoff TV money, Jerry's limited partners and Jerry himself are less than thrilled with the ROI so payroll is a legitimate issue and undoubtedly will need to be slashed significantly from their POV.
Sure…but the point I’m making is that it changes nothing. We aren’t going to sign big free agents regardless, nor is the team in a position to sign veterans at this point. With the lack of viable talent in the organization worrying about the payroll is like worrying about a scratch on a car that has a blown engine. The payroll will be reduced naturally just because the team needs to be blown up and rebuilt, AGAIN.
-
Does the payroll aspect of it even matter? This team isn’t signing major difference making free agents while Jerry is still alive so I’m not worried about saving payroll. Obviously this team is going nowhere and needs young assets though, so that should be the sole focus.

Not going to help anything, let the kid develop and get stronger in the minors for at least another couple of months.

I think I’d be more concerned if he was happy here. This organization is a dumpster fire. Not saying Tim is completely resolved of any blame, but I don’t see how any player could/should be happy playing for the Sox.

I’m sure announcing this to the world in early May is a wonderful negotiation tactic…

There’s a long list of things Hahn should be fired for, but this is a ridiculous overreaction…even for this board.

Feels like you could give this team 100 tries and they couldn’t score a runner from 2nd in an important situation.
And I could see not wanting to bunt the heart of the order, but we have our worst 3 hitters up and you’re going to rely on a hit to score?

That ball looked like it was knocked back by the wind 20 feet

What is Elvis good for?
Sadly still a better option than Romy or Sosa right now

Getting picked off because you’re blowing on your hands to keep warm is a new level of dumb I didn’t think I’d see. This team never ceases to amaze

Everyone acknowledges how bad of a GM Hahn is an injury prone the players are…and then those things come to fruition and now it’s the managers fault? Not sure what moves any manager could make that would turn this team around with the present roster and injuries.

Sad to say…but Baltimore’s betting line being + $ right now is very tempting. I have 0 faith in our bullpen
Crap, didn’t listen to myself

Was it state law that Middleton had to come out after one inning?
He pitched yesterday, asking him to go 2 probably not realistic

He might have good career stats, but watching Bummer is such a painful chore
I think the Bummer experience is over. He looks nowhere near as electric as he did 2-3 years ago.

I would have pulled Cease…but not sure I can kill Pedro for the decision based on how bad the middle of this pen is
-
Should have just started the inning with a reliever.

Need runs. Trying to get 4 clean out innings out of this bullpen is asking for a miracle

I don’t live close to Chicago…what’s the prognosis of if/when the game will start?

Lol and now the team folds and melts down

Horrible call on a pitch 2-3” inside to put Luis in a 0-1 hole and then confirm that he clearly didn’t touch the bag. Wild

In what world is that a balk?
Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine

The athletic laid 20 people off at the same time, highly doubt it had anything to do with that very non offensive tweet. Most likely has to do with being the beat writer for a perennial bad team that is losing whatever fan base it has by the day.
