  1. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 30, 2017 -> 06:58 PM)
    Guess they should have dealt Q in the offseason.. but who would have thought he would struggle this badly.

    There was no point in keeping him. Teams weren't gonna increase their offers for him because he isn't all that exciting or dominant of a pitcher. He is good but teams are afraid to invest too much in him. I figured he would crash and burn this year as a slap in the face of the rebuild.

  2. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 28, 2017 -> 10:15 AM)
    Assuming Mesa comes out, can the Sox even go after him?? Would it simply be another case where they would have to pay double, or is he past an age cutoff where he would simply be a free agent like Abreu?

    Good question, I'd like to know as well. I think we should adopt a team as a board and follow their progress together. I think I want to root for the Nationals because they are fun and we continue to try and do business with them. If only Eaton didn't go down. I would cheer for the Dogers but they pissed me off last year choking against the Cubs.

  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 27, 2017 -> 08:32 PM)
    The major league team is competitive against most teams and interesting to watch. Cheer for them.

    Yeah but I'm torn because we were cheering for losses before. I don't think they will compete much to be honest when it's all said and done record wise. In that case draft positioning becomes important.

  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2017 -> 07:41 PM)
    Root for the rest of the AL Central to fall apart.

    Pick an NL team, rookie or favorite player...rotisserie league, suscribe to mlbtv or extra innings and scout all the teams.

    Cheer for Robertson, Jones, Swarzak, Putnam, Petricka...Pelfrey/Holland/MiGo/Shields...and pretty much every young player on the roster to excel or be traded. Wait with excitement for Moncada, Burdi, Fulmer, Lopez and Giolito.

    Follow the minors and draft.

    Hope that Melky and Frazier get traded sooner rather than later.

    Follow the progress of Q and Rodon obsessively.

    Be happy for Avi, Davidson, Leury, Kahnle, Yolmer, Omar, Willy Garcia, Danish, Kevan Smith, Engel, Ynoa, etc.

    Fantasize about 2018-19 free agent class, Shohei Otani, Victor Mesa, etc.

    Great assessment here. I appreciate the work you put in. I acgtually would rather see the Indians win it than the Yankees or Red Sox. I also want the Nationals to get real close so they make a trade for Q and Robertson. As far as NL go I have no choice but to hate on the Cubs, I couldn't bear going to work for 4 months after they won. I need them to to choke this year, but they are guaranteed a playoff spot since their division sucks.

  5. We aren't going to be competitive so it is important for us as fans to still enjoy baseball. So cheering for the farm system and rankings of players is first. But after that who do we cheer for or support to keep our sanity during these dark few years? Do we just cheer for everyone but the Cubs? Do we find a specific team to get behind and support?

  6. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 22, 2017 -> 01:10 PM)
    If I am the Nationals I am not trading Robles

    Robles is 100% the replacement for Harper once he leaves in free agency

    If the Nationals were truly desperate for relief help they could certainly deal guys like Soto, Keiboom, Stephenson or Neuse. Those guys would be able to get you quality relievers.

    Robles and Fedde are not going to be traded

    If Washington loses Harper they are toast. Robles isn't close to being that impactful and even if he does come close you are just treading water. They're gameplan should be to try to win a WS in the next two years while they have the chance because if Harper leaves it's a wrap. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions to win it all. If it were me I probably would want more than the discussed package for Robles but I wouldn't make him untouchable with the roster they have.

  7. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 01:14 PM)
    Yes there's a simple one, they won the World Series. Several people jumped on the bandwagon, and if you're a business and you choose not to stock merchandise that will be in high demand, I mean it's your call to lose out on extra revenue, but a very unwise move from a business standpoint. Simple.

    I don't disagree with you, my premise is that I'm disgusted by this. It's gonna be a long three years and there is no guarantee the Sox will recover from this. If the Cubs go on a BlackHawks type run it's game over.

  8. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 02:08 PM)
    Yeah I wonder why there's this sudden influx of Cubs gear everywhere....if only there was a logical explanation for that.

    Not on the southside there is no explanation.

  9. What they should have done is an IBB equals two bases instead of one. If you really are afraid of someone then they deserve to get to second or just pitch to them. If you want to walk them the regular way you can still pitch around them but it wont be as easy as 4 simple toss outs.

  10. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 09:43 PM)
    I don't know how much the alcohol played into this accident but I did notice that there was a semi upside down on the other side of the road.

    Please everyone, use extra caution around semis which pose all kinds of risks, especially on roads like I-80, 294, 55, 94, and the other highways around Chi-town. . Yesterday I almost got smashed by a 40,000 roll of steel that popped loose on a flat bed semi right in front of me. And if you want to go out and have a few, enlist a designated driver or call Uber or a Taxi. You only have one life and remember, ST is not that far off.

    Glad you are safe. No excuse for drunk driving anymore in the US with Uber and Lyft.

  11. If we trade Q and Robertson we are still a 72 win team. There is still some talent on this team and the players here wont tank with their jobs on the line. We are not getting a top 3 pick next year. We will pick between 5 and 10 where it's about picking the best bat. I think we can get a pretty damn good bat in that range who plays a little D. We just have to stop drafting athletic freaks or brutes and go with official talent.

  12. These are going to be dark times. Fans may be okay with the rebuild but look how long it took the Cubs. It got to a point where Cubs fans stopped coming to games. The fans will not show up to the G and will probably watch another team during the first two years. Sadly that team may be the Cubs.

  13. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 02:35 PM)
    Serious question for you "don't trade with the cubs" people. Has there ever been evidence to suggest the city can't support two winning baseball teams? You spend so much time citing business competition when

    1) there have been multiple instances where the city has supported two winning baseball teams

    2) the MLB is a franchised based model which allows the Sox to survive in concert with the Cubs.

    The only thing that the White Sox need to worry about is winning. The fans show up when they win. It is financially and operationally irresponsible to leave out a team in a different league as a trade partner.

    In a sense, it is NOTHING like dealing with a divisional rival, as their success is tied to our failure. That is not the case with the Cubs.

    Well your point is moot because the Sox will be one of the worst teams in baseball when they trade their players away. Since the Sox will be bad they cannot afford to help the Cubs build a dynasty and steal away Sox fans. If the Cubs go on a Blackhawks run right now the Sox are toast. If the Sox were a playoff team without needing Sale things would be different.

  14. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 08:43 AM)
    I said this in another thread, but it's entirely possible the Sox just don't think they match up with the Cubs, if the Cubs aren't willing to deal certain younger guys off their major league roster.

    If the Cubs actually made a big / the best offer on a guy like Sale, I have a hard time believing the Sox would say no just because they're the Cubs.

    Not true. This is why teams don't trade within divisions often, unless the players traded are insignificant. The Cubs happen to play in the same city and both teams compete over money, attention, players, and fans. Unless the Cubs send the greatest trade back of all time it's not gonna happen.

  15. In other news, Lyft is gonna make a deal with Uber that will help Uber crush the competition even more. Lyft does not care that the money pot will favor Uber even more and customers who are fed up with them will move on to Uber the nearest competitor.

    In all seriousness though we should not have let this leak. We could have felt this way and just used the scrubs as leverage.
