  1. You keep saying that. Tell me how. You pointed to one instance in the 70's. To me, that's not "notorious." That's 25 years ago. If he's "notoriously" known for anything it's for being a loud mouth that causes contreversy, but not being a racist. Come on. I also posted a fair article in the "Rush calls out McNabb" thread that shows his more recent comments.
  2. Dusty isn't notoriously known for being a racist either. And Dusty's comments of blacks can handle heat better due to their physical attributes [ie melatonin in skin etc.] are vastly different than Rush's comments that McNabb is overrated because the media wants a black QB to do well. Last time I checked, the media wasn't on the field blocking for him on the field to get long runs and completed passes. Rush could have simply said "McNabb is overrated" and used his play this year to show that. But no, Rush went with the racial implications for no damn good reason. And today it's been found that he might be a painkiller addict. Looks like things are falling apart for old Rush.
  3. He can say that McNabb is overrated. He crossed the line when he attributed his success to the media being covetous of a successful black QB.
  4. I concur. People see only what they are prepared to see. Trust me, Roman. I had a similar situation last year, only the girl saw the crappiness she had, she just had self esteem and body image issues that inhibited her confidence to get out of it.
  5. Of course because Flub fans are always so knowledgeable about baseball. They can even judge accurate distances for fly balls.
  6. I saw the Dusty story covered on Headline News, CNN, and all the other media. Hell, that story even made Buzzflash's news stories. So don't slant that it wasn't covered at all or anything like that. Limbaugh got more coverage because he is a nationally recognized persona whereas not nearly as many people know who Dusty is. [i mean, how many random people know baseball managers compared to Rush who has been on syndicated radio for years and written lots of books?]
  7. bulls*** answer alert. http://www.fair.org/articles/limbaugh-color.html There's just a few examples of Rush's racism. I don't care. The reason your answer is bulls*** is because history doesn't matter at all when considering how much heat people should get for what they say. It doesn't matter what they're "known for", if they say comparable things they deserve comparable reactions, and they are not getting them. Funny, I remember the Dusty story getting covered quite a bit. And saying that certain players can handle heat better is just a bit different than saying that McNabb is only majorly popular because the NFL wants a black man to be very successful. They are on different levels.
  8. bulls*** answer alert. http://www.fair.org/articles/limbaugh-color.html There's just a few examples of Rush's racism.
  9. So Dusty is a Democrat? I didn't know that. I saw the media and saw Dusty get reamed a bit. But Dusty is a baseball manager, not known for his bigotry or racism meanwhile Rush Limbaugh IS known for racism and bigotry. ESPN knew what it was getting into with him having no expertice in football, but ESPN just going after the dittohead ratings that will watch just because Rush is on. That quote of "Take the bone out of your nose..." was from his radio show in the late 1970s, I believe 1977. I also believe that he has admitted to saying it as well.
  10. http://www.salon.com/news/wire/2003/10/01/...augh/index.html Rush Limbaugh [R-vulgar racist] said Sunday on NFL Sunday Countdown: "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well," Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team." I'd just love to see him tell Warren Sapp to "Take the bone out of your nose and call me back later." like he told a black caller on his show before. Why did ESPN hire this guy again?
  11. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=968705925735 Tucker Carlson and FOX throwing punches, hahaha.
  12. I concur that the most important part is not the graduation. But the testing is in place as a "get tough on education" idea in order to justify funding for schools. However, I have to diverge from your analysis when you state that some children shouldn't be there. In studies that I've had to read for my educational psychology class, it is moreso the tracks that the schools set students in that stifle their learning and cause problems. In one particular study, the researchers put a random group of students in a classroom and told the teacher that these kids were the highest scores on the aptitude test and had the best grades. So the teacher went in with that mindset and taught and the childrens' scores increased. After the semester was over, the teacher was notified that these kids were just "normal" and not what he was led to believe. However, the children fed off of his enthusiasm and belief that they could do well, so they did well. I think a lot of problems with students in schools can be attributed to the codifying of test scores = intelligence because how they do on an aptitude test puts them in a track they they will be in for their entire high school career. All kids have the potential to learn a lot and become successful, it's just that many do not receive the opportunity because of a poor educational system focused on tracking and teaching the test.
  13. I think an administration that makes comments that Al Qaeda and Saddam are working together and later saying they didn't; outing a CIA agent in the field; lies about nuclear materials in Iraq from Africa; killing 300+ Americans and thousands of Iraqis for no official reason yet etc. etc. is a much bigger scandal than a cock slobbering. But I digress....
  14. Always with the controversy Funny, I thought my avatar would cause more.
  15. I almost said William Henry Harrison because he didn't have time to become corrupted in office since he died 30 days in. But I went with FDR instead with much trepidation. He was quite the womanizer and there is growing evidence that they knew about Pearl Harbor before the event but the New Deal programs were revolutionary for this nation and got us out of the Great Depression.
  16. The CIA agent who got outed is the wife of Ambassador Joseph Wilson. "When Ambassador Joseph Wilson wrote in the New York Times that there was no truth to the allegations that Iraq had tried to purchase yellowcake uranium from Niger" there is a theory that Rove leaked the name to intimidate her and her husband. And I personally think Rove had something to do with it because he is the political mastermind in the White House.
  17. Speaking of Karl Rove, here is what a co-author of Rove's political history has to say about the situation. This author has been researching Rove for a while. http://www.buzzflash.com/contributors/03/0...9/30_moore.html
  18. I really hope they appoint an independent investigator instead of John Ashcroft.
  19. Yeah, when is Ken Lay gonna get prosecuted?
  20. Congratulations, Florida. You are no longer the state that has the most f***ed up election legacy for the time being. It's just funny how people rail against Davis for having a $10 billion deficit, yet Georgie is getting rave reviews and he's about $600 billion in the hole. Just sayin'. California didn't have to pay for 2 wars and a giant sized terrorist attack though did they? They had to pay for Enron gouging them and robbing them blind.
  21. Lightning has struck. I agree with you. Holy s***. The Cubs and Red Sox make the playoffs, celebrities are dying off left and right and Nuke is agreeing with me on a political issue. Surely, these must be the signs of the Apocalypse.
  22. Congratulations, Florida. You are no longer the state that has the most f***ed up election legacy for the time being. It's just funny how people rail against Davis for having a $10 billion deficit, yet Georgie is getting rave reviews and he's about $600 billion in the hole. Just sayin'.
  23. I saw that last night and fell out of my chair laughing.
  24. The No Child Left Behind Act isn't that great for schools at all. I have a pretty conservative educational psychology department professor and even he said that the NCLB is absolutely terrible for schools from a policy standpoint because it is leaving many many children behind. Teaching for the test limits education and how much children learn. Not to mention hinging all aid on test results is drastically effected by access to learning tools [see Kozol's "Savage Inequalities"] Putting one test as the culmination of what funding schools are going to get is idiocy because: a: the children might not have learned all that information that is on there b: the kid could be stressed about family life or something else and that may make them not think clearly c: the kid could be sick the day of the test and that could negatively impact the score
  25. So Coca-Cola workers that want a fair wage and organize to get it have their children murdered and they "disappear" is "leftist guerillas" Or how about church workers that speak out against the government murder of 900+ civilians in El Mazote or the murder of an Archbishop whose research showed the government of Guatemala was responsible for the majority of human rights abuses? Once again Nuke, you show a lack of knowing the facts of what graduates of the school has done, so please become better educated on the subject instead of just labeling anybody who gets murdered a "commie". So Oscar Romero was a "dirty commie" or how about Ita Ford or how about the Jesuit priests, their housekeeper and the housekeepers daughter? Or how about the 900 civilians over half under age 12 that were slaughtered in El Mazote? What communist threat does a CHILD have Nuke? Quashed democracy. That's why Chalabi wants to have the council take over and the Iraqi people are wanting elections, but Bush and Co. told him that they won't allow elections there and they won't turn over 1 iota of power to the new Iraqi government. And lots of innocent people that have been detained can rot in prison. Wow, I'm glad you're defending our freedoms as Americans then Nuke. Because you obviously love the Constitution.
