September 23, 200322 yr Sweeney has to be kicking himself in the ass over that clause in his contract. Who would of thought last year that the Royals would finish above .500. He sure as hell didnt, or would never admit it. To him it would of seemed like an easy way out of town. Maybe sweeney now believes Royals can be a contender in the following years, but I wouldnt say he is happy with the extension Although the Royals do keep Sweeney, what is the news on the futures of Beroa, Ibanez, Tucker, Lima, Beltran. I don't know the details of their contracts but I would guess maybe two would be gone.
September 23, 200322 yr Sweeney's back disc problem will plague him throughout his career. When he's healthy, he's phenomenal. I just think he'll spend more time on the DL the longer his career goes. I'm not particularly upset by this news.

September 23, 200322 yr I think they won't do anything next season, especially if Beltran escapes. They can't keep all the guys. Beltran kept them in it for awhile, is he not an FA this year or next. He's bigger than Sweeney because of Sweeney's back.
