Friday is Rule 5 Decision Day

Featured Replies

That's what I figured after Merkin's column and Brennan got dropped.

40 Man currently sitting at 40.

Wouldn't surprise me if another minor deal happened today and Will Lamb got added. Late moves have happened before.

Tomorrow (Friday) is the deadline for teams to add players to their 40-man rosters in order to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft.

Here's a look at who is currently exposed that may need protection, and who is already on-roster that could go.

What the Sox do Friday could perhaps be an indicator of direction for the offseason.

Thanks for the analysis.

For sure Delmonico, May and Engel need to be protected.

Pisses me off that we traded that kid for Tommy Kahnle

He was a legit, although low minors, pitching prospect. Traded him for another cooper fix 'em project.

Yes, but would you really care? The chances of these guys being impact players is beyond small. They won't get you anything in a trade, and are easy to replace with something similar, especially if they are rebuilding.

A team that spent $3 million on Bonifacio should make the effort to protect a utility infielder.

Possible, but in the next hour?

Lamb becomes the biggest draft risk, with Delmonico behind him some distance, then a list of really-not-likely guys.

It seems the Sox like Purke better than Lamb as a left reliever.

Looks like the deadline is 7pm. Unlikely anything happens, but never know.

I saw Rays released John Lamb. Would be interested in converting hkm to a lefty reliever. Sign him to a minor league deal so it doesn't affeft the 40 man.

They have a lot of the same type of these AAA/AAAA relievers on the 40 man. Seems they could have squeezed in Delmonico.

Purke, Blake Smith Soto....all LH AAA relievers kind of like Lamb.

What about Avi? Isn't he hitting arb? sox keeping him around? I guess they just as soon do so if they rebuild.
