Should the White Sox Slow Down on the Rebuilding Trades?

Featured Replies

Don't slow down until Hawk retires.

A lot of good comments here. It also occurred to me when thinking about how the White Sox have expressed interest in various catching prospects that they might not match up with those teams when it comes to our major league players who are on the trade block; however, a given team with the prospects might be interested in a few of the pitchers that we just acquired. Then, it would make sense to trade someone, such as Quintana or Abreu or Frazier for additional pitching prospects as we may have to move some of our existing or newly acquired pitching prospects to another team that has a catching prospect that we might desire.

I'd get rid of Melky now but I doubt anybody wants him. Melky for two low level prospects if anybody will bite?

The Giants desperately need someone for LF. I could see them having interest.

Didn't Melky get removed from their playoff roster due to PEDs a few years back? There might be some lingering bad feelings there.

You might as well be the worst team in baseball the next 2-3 years as well and get a top 3 pick all three years.

Kind of. His suspension ended during the playoffs, but the team put him on the restricted list. Didn't really matter as they won that year without him.

I think Melky stays with us until the trade deadline. He should be hitting around .280+ at that time and some team will need a contact hitter for the stretch. I doubt you could get anything interesting for him right now.
