Went deep just once in the final 30 games of the season, and hit just .194 vs. lefties. Can anyone say "Jose Valentin"?
September 26, 200322 yr 5. Jon Rauch, rhp Age: 25 Surprisingly, was never given a shot at the fifth starter's job for Chicago despite a steady performance at Triple-A. 2.17 ERA in his final six starts. Good to see this. Maybe he's finally ready for the Sox rotation.

The Sox bring in Neal Cotts, who is a great prospect, but never pitched above AA ball instead of Rausch and then at the end of the season they bring up Jose Panaigua, who showed absolutely nothing at Charlotte and then even less at the big league level. Jon did a real good job last year in his September starts and I think could have helped. Someone in the front office wasn't up on our farm team prospects.

I would have much rather seen Rauch up here but I think he may have been on the DL at the time. Doesn't matter. If we had a 5th starter all season that could have won just 10 games, we'd have won this s*** Division. But KW is the man! :puke
September 26, 200322 yr Honel continues to move steadily up the ladder, leading the organization in strikeouts while allowing three or fewer earned runs in 20 of 24 starts. Absolutely baffles left-handed hitters (.189 opponent average). Hello, #1 prospect.

September 27, 200322 yr got to be Reed Number one Cotts or Honel, two and three Honel might get two because he's got better command, even though Cotts has shown more after that ... BAmerica is posting its top 20 from the Carolina League tomorrow. be interesting to see where Honel, Wing and Yan rank
September 27, 200322 yr Hello, #1 prospect. Excuse me, have you forgotten a guy by the name of Reed?? Honel has more upside than Reed, and Honel has done very well for his 2nd straight year. I'm not calling Reed a fluke or anything, but I think Honel gets the #1 spot on future upside.

I've read from BA, but I know you have seen some radar readings, that his velo is abck up around the 92-94 MPH range. I guess you'll get a better look at him next year, though.

To be honest, Im not sure we can bank on Esty being Esty next year.... I love the guy and what he's brought to the team... but I have my doubts that this isn't another lightning in a bottle situation.
