The quoted reference is fixed for anyone else who gets confused when clicking.

edit: Great article - I loves me some Hansen! A rotation lead by him and Kopech is a thing that wet dreams are made out of.

Scot Gregor‏ @scotgregor 11m11 minutes ago Top #WhiteSox pitching prospect Alec Hansen dropped 15 pounds this off-season to "create more force." Sounds like he opens year at AA Birmingham

Slavko Bekovic‏ @SBekovic 16m16 minutes ago Also, Alec Hansen told me he had 3 missed calls from Tennessee while flying into Chicago for #SoxFest2018. It was Don Cooper. Coop is very excited to work with Hansen, couldn’t believe how tall he was when they met at the airport. #WhiteSox #NextSox

Hansen is especially exciting for fans who saw what he did last season in the minor leagues. The right-handed hurler, a second-round pick in 2016, struck out a jaw-dropping 191 batters in 141.1 innings while splitting time between Class A Kannapolis, Class A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham.

And if those numbers don’t do it for you, maybe Cooper’s scouting report will.

“I think he’s a big, strong guy that throws the ball in the mid to upper 90s, got a curveball that breaks like a freaking firecracker, a slider that’s hard and sharp and a changeup that’s continually progressing,” Cooper said. “I think he’s a guy that has more work to do, like everybody.”

“The risks don’t have to be high school guys, they could be a toolsy college player, or an Alec Hansen for example, where that ceiling is probably as high of a ceiling that we’ve drafted in the last two years, but also the lowest floor. I’ve just got to do a better job of making sure that we space things out a little bit and give these kids time to develop.”

Absolutely struggling in AA this year.

He's also 27, so not really a prospect any more.

Retied today.
